Right kind of CF card! (I found a Triton Extreme)

Post by LiquidLE »

Greetings all. I found my Triton Extreme; picking it up Saturday. I want to get set up with the right kind of Compact Flash card before then. Are there several different kinds? Or do i only need to be concerned about getting the right size (capacity)?

For example, are these okay?

I know they're a little small, but are the specs in terms of compatibility okay.

Thanks in advance for any help.[/url]

Sandisk is one the most popular brands, and probably the least problematic.
Any card should do the trick, although some have latency issues.
The Extreme doesn't always recognize a card after you power it on,
so you may want to use "Scan USB device" a few times from the "Media info" drop down tab.

Okay, thanks for responding tritex4. So CF is pretty standard and the Triton Xtreme should be able to read any reputable brand... I take it.

When you save .PCG on a Triton Extreme, roughly how much data is that?

I don't think i'll be dealing with samples much. I do a lot of tweaking though, so i want to be able to back up my .PCG data. Thanks.

Of course, a CF card is the only device that can be placed in the back of the Extreme.
However, that's the internal setup. Many people opt to use other types of drives externally.
You will need to install the CF card in the Extreme to be able to sample to the CF card, create wave files from sequences and
use the USB Storage mode.

Saving a program file with all the boxes checked yields a 2.1 Mb file.
Sequence files are generally in Kilobytes.
Considering how low priced the cards are, you may want to get a 1 to 4 Gb card.

I would go for the 1gb Sandisk Ultra II as it givers the best performance.

Good luck with your Tritron. I got my KE76 last night and still in awe of its looks, havent even started looking at the sounds and what it can do yet. Haha. Are you completely new to Korg like me or have you had one before?

Cheers

caution make sure you get them from a main dealer as some of the bootleg one's from hong kong e.c.t. do not work properly when using mix down to 2 ch mode, all the best,

Bummer! I just bought one off of ebay the day before yesterday. I didn't know it was from Hong Kong until the auction was over. :(
