I'm new to the Oasys but I seem to see strange behavior when I have a custom combi loaded with v1.3.1. Maybe it's something I'm doing wrong, I don't know.

I defined the combi with one user-saved sound and five internal sounds. I saved the combi using "write program" to User-G 000. However, when I press another mode key such as Program, Sequence, etc. and then return to the combi, the sound on channel 1 (an internal sound) has been replaced by something completely different. This only happens for the channel 1 sound and happens every time I come back to combi mode from another mode. The other sounds are not affected. I can then reload the combi and it comes back to its original state but the whole thing is annoying. Has anyone else seen this behavior?

I may be wrong but try "write combi" when asks "sure" say yes and give destination. I'm away from my Oasys at the moment, but it seems this is how I have locked in my combi's with no problems. Hope this helps.

I use "write combi", I just misspoke when I said it was "write program". Actually, I had the Oasys off overnight and I just turned it back on. My combi now appears stable. It was definitely a problem yesterday so I'm sure it will crop up again. It had the appearance of a bug but seems to be at least temporarily fixed by rebooting. I have noticed other behavior that was influenced by rebooting such as not being able to read a memory stick. I will see what happens when I work with it some more.

This can happen if you have MIDI looped back to the OASYS. Changing modes etc. sends out reset information, including Program change. To do this, either disable loopback, filter Program changes from the loopback path, or disable Program Change messages in the Global/MIDI page's MIDI Filter section.

I think it's definitely a bug. When I first booted up, the combi I created came up and was stable when I changed to other modes. But when I went to the Program mode, changed sounds, and played for a bit, the combi lost the first instrument definition when I went back to it. Now again when I change modes the first instrument in the combi defaults to something else and I have to reload it from the memory location each time.

Thank you Dan. I posted the last before I saw your reply. I tried your suggestion and disabled program change in the Global Midi Filter and this seemed to prevent the first instrument from being altered when switching modes. I assume the loopback you are referring to is due to having the Oasys connected to a DAW and using the keyboard to send midi to the computer and then back to the tone generators. Why would this reset happen to only the first instrument and not to others?

If I'm understanding correctly, this is caused by a MIDI Program Change message sent out on the Global Channel. My guess is that in this Combi, only the first instrument is set to the Global Channel.

It's interesting but the global midi channel was set to 16 during this time andthe first instrument that was changing was on channel 1. However, I had a DAW hooked up to control the combi through different channels and it could have been some feedback through this that caused the change although I can't be sure.
