Considering an O

Post by RyanC »

Hey All-

I'm considering an O and have a few questions, I tried searching but couldn't find what I was looking for (maybe it's on page 17 of the wish list). . .

One big question for me is with regard to the sampler and single shot drums; can the O do MPC style switching of single shots while a beat is playing?

For Ex i want to throw my 10gigs or so of single shot drum wavs on the hard drive, load up a basic drum kit, lay down a loop, and then dig trough all my samples to find the best ones. It's also nice to have the ability to adjust env, filter and sample start times and pitch independently per note, as opposed to having to split each note to different tracks. Generally I do drums un-quantized and hate to have to do each part separately just to get them to feed different sampler tracks.

Also, one way I really like to work is to create loops by playing each part until I get it to where I like it, then take the last 4 or 8 bars and loop them. Can you do this quickly in the korg seq? EG can I designate track one to be a 4 bar loop and track two to be an 8 bar loop and then play something for 5 minutes on track 3 until I nail it and easily snag the last 8 bars
(or 8 bars towards the middle)?

How does the seq handle midi that is ahead of the beat when looping, meaning that if I play a chord just before 1 and hold it will it cut it short when it loops back?

Thanks-
