Dealing with drums...

Post by Pr0 »

I everyone.
I've recently acquired the Oasys 88 and have been sleeping less 8-[, since then, as I try to learn and adapt as much as I can to this entirelly new musical philosophy. I mean philosophy because I used to be a Roland user. So, I know I've got a looooooong way to go, but there's this one thing bugging me. It concearns Drums. In my Roland Fantom (sold now), there were 3 modes - patch, sequencer and performance. Performance mode is something like the Combi mode on the Oasys (more or less). I would play a note, say, C, and drums would start playing. Then I had other notes that would trigger many DRUMS events like breaks (many and diferent). In the Oasys I´ve been exploring those Karma knobs and sliders, bur haven't found anything that would trigger automated events like breaks and all sort of stuff that live drum players do. I'm sorry if I'm not explaining myself clearly... I'm bit raw on this...
Any help would be appreciated.

P.S.: By the way, this forum is amazing and the way Korg personnel participate... it's just... impressive. =D>

Check out the RPPR function in Sequencer mode ... that will do that kind of thing for. It allows you to record a phrase/pattern and then assign it to a key that will trigger it in various ways.

But that´s on sequencer mode... I meant live playing, like in Combi mode... :?

If you don't hit Play in sequencer mode, it basically is Combi mode ;-) Just copy your Combi over into Sequencer mode using the Enter+Rec key shortcut. RPPR can still be used for what you want without the sequencer actually playing.

Alternately re-sample your material and trigger the resulting samples from a custom program that is assigned to a timbre in combi mode.
