Bigger hard drive? Networking? SDK?
A 40Gb hard drive seems like a toy these days....particularly in an age where one can buy a terrabyte for $200 and change.
Is there any benefit to putting a larger drive in the Oasys? Is it supported?
Also, the public ID for my Oasys looks suspiciously like a MAC address. Given that linux is inside, is networking supported? Can I plug a USB/ethernet converter cable into the Oasys and put it on my LAN? That would certainly be a much easier way to transfer updates instead of trying to burn CDs (and I can't get the EXs3 to burn on to a CD because my CDs are not big enough)
Is there an SDK for the Oasys?
Thanks,
D

Hmmm, even better, for updating the OS would be the ability to use a USB memory stick....the whole thing would fit on one stick these days, with plenty of room to spare!

I am just curious, but how much of the 40Gb did you use already?

You could say that the 10" screen also seems like a toy, because 24" screens can now be purchased for $300. Or that the P4 CPU is a toy because it sucks compared to a core2duo.
But that's not the point -- the point is how much screen size, or hard-drive space, or CPU power, is actually needed to use the Oasys for its intended purpose as a synth/workstation? For my purposes, anyway, the current screen & hard drive & cpu are fine.

Actually, the items you list are PRECISELY why I had originally asked if anything new was coming down the pipeline, before I made the decision to go buy the Oasys.
Well, if it was a $1,500 item, I would agree with you. But for a synth/workstation costing $8k (and that's just to start) and therefore a major investment, such questions are relevent. I'm astonished for example that the CD drive isn't in fact a DVD drive.

None, probably....I just got the Oasys a few days ago. But that's EXACTLY why it's a good time to think ahead. I'd much rather do such expansions now, before I've put lots of stuff on the drive and then having to worry about transferring the data to a larger drive in the future.
I've no idea what's coming down the pipeline for the Oasys but if you consider that installing Logic and Kontakt on a computer, along with their sample libraries, you use up 60 Gb, it's not unreasonable to think about what might show up later for the Oasys that can use similar large libraries. I've no idea whether the Oasys supports streaming samples from disk right now, but if it doesn't, it might later.
Just thinking ahead

There's a thread on Karma-lab forums about drives:
