It seems to me that trying to use these GEs with hundreds of parameters at one time is way too hard in order to learn exactly how KARMA works and can be used.
Is there a way to create really "simple" KARMA effects so that I can build up a model in my head for what's going on?
For example, can I build a KARMA effect that behaves solely like a fixed frequency LFO whose output modules the cutoff frequency of the LP filter?
Once I've done just that, can I then extend it by doing things like
a) Change the "shape" of that "LFO"
b) Control the speed of that "LFO" with the joystick, or MIDI key, or my foot pedal?
c) Create two LFOs and have them add (or multiply) together to generate the value, etc?
I realize that such effects are very simplistic but right now, the problem I'm having is analagous to trying to solve 2nd degree differential equations before learning the multiplication tables.
How can I learn KARMA

Knowing some basics of Karma my advise is:
- Watch Stephen Kays Videos available at his Karma-Forum to get an idea of what Karma can do
Read and play through the Karma-Chapters of the thin manual (not the parameter guide) and through the many tutorials at the Karma-Forum
Find combis you like and examine the settings on the Karma-pages
Read the interview with Eric J. Sawyer (EJ2) on Peter Mahrs Blogasys
If you're hooked: get the Karma Oasys software for Mac/PC - it enables you to actually see, what happens to the output data, once you change settings
Yes, those are all valid suggestions and of course different people have different learning styles but in this case I want to quickly understand the basis functions first.
