burning CDs from the OASYS versus burning from your computer

I am having difficulty burning a full CD's worth of songs from the OASYS. It keeps freezing up. So I have the following question about a work around. Assume that I burn a single song from the OASYS onto a CD. Then I copy the song onto my laptop and put it into a iTunes playlist consisting of other songs from the OASYS. Then I burn a CD of the OASYS songs from the iTunes playlist. From an audiophile's perspective, is there any sacrifice in fidelity with the resulting CD compared to a CD burned directly from the OASYS (if it did not keep freezing up)?

Why bother when the OASYS can do it. You just need to find out what the cause is.
What brand and type of media are you using. Please don't say memorex

I am using Memorex. Please excuse my tone, but I am more than a little bit annoyed by this problem. Maybe Korg could be kind enough to tell us what brand of CDs to use. For the price of this instrument, I find this particular problem to be inexcusable.

Incidentally, the problem happens with other brands of CDs besides Memorex.

Bingo !!!!. Well that's your problem.
Memorex is sort of like a running joke around here at this stage. It's been at the heart of all.... yes... 100% of “””all”” issues related to burning CD's on these forums over the years.
I will tell you the same thing that everyone says. Buy yourself a Verbatim CD-R or something as good like a TDK. This advices comes with 100% success rate to date.
Hope your not the first to prove it wrong.
Incidentally, the problem happens with other brands of CDs besides Memorex.
You generally don't find stores that sell crap like Memorex stocking media any better. It's all a price based thing to them.

This has nothing to do with KORG. It's the media you purchased, nothing more.

Staples brand and Memorex.
Those are at the bottom of the barrel when it comes to dye quality.
Try Vebatim.
If you're in the States, they're pretty cheap. (Free shipping this week)

Funny you should say that because Maxell just announced that they are stopping production of all CD/DVD media. So as bad as it was already, you can expect it to get a lot worse as they look at outsourcing it to the cheapest bidder. Probably Memorex
As for Sony. Honestly I know nothing at all about their media. I've actually never seen it rated on any of the DVD/CD forums/sites I hang out on. So I can't say.

It may be the OASYS CD-RW.
Not faulty, but picky due to it's specs.
Your PC/Mac burners will be less problematic and burn more brands.
I'd even go so far as to rely on a USB burner hooked up to the OASYS,
compared to the onboard CD-RW.
I had one on my Studio and if Korg is using the same ones on the OASYS,
they're not that good, IMO.

On the advice of the commenters on this thread, I bought some Verbatim CD-Rs and here are the early results. Of four attempts today to burn the same 15 songs (65 minutes), three burns were flawless and one was a dud because the Oasys froze at song 8. Although it is obviously a tiny sample, those results are much better than what I was getting with Memorex. Still, I hope I don't encounter a 25% failure rate even with Verbatim media.

Are you sure the OASYS was not bumped during the burning process ?. As in you didn't hit of it, or send shock up whatever its sitting on.
You really shouldn't have any problems with the verbatim media. I'm happy to hear your getting far better results, but I would expect nothing less than a 100% success rate from this media.

I have the same problem with the Oasys CD burner and have used Phillips, TDK, Verbatim and Imation media.
If I burn 4or 5 songs totalling about 20 minutes there's no problem, but when there are 6 or more songs it will freeze about 50% of the time, usually right at the start of a track if the display is to be believed.
The only solution is to turn the power off, reboot, and try again. The first time it happened I lost my song files which I had made into .wav files but not saved as.sng files first. Because the Oasys freezes there is no way of going back to the Disk menu to save suff. I learned very quickly to save anything before using the CD burner.
