Track 'live' vol control with pedal when playing sequences?

Post by Ray »

I have now recorded all MD tracks to the Oasys within the Combinations which I normally use live.

I know how to select tracks to play live with others either sequenced or audio.

Does anyone know how to control volume of selected tracks only so that sequenced data stays the same volume, but volume of tracks played live can be controlled "live"?

Many thanks in advance.

Ray.

I just realised I didn't state that I want to control the volume with a Korg control (volume) pedal

Thanks.

Apologies.

In Global Page, go to Controllers tab and open Control Pedal options.

Choose Volume CC#7.

Whatever track you have assigned to the same midi track that you are playing live will respond to the pedal. To omit a track (that has the same midi channel assigned) go to the midi filter page 3 and de-select the track using the pedal control filter.

Ironically I can't use this method, because I needed multiple tracks to increase/decrease in volume by the same mix/ratio. Doing it the above way causes all the assigned volumes to be the same - as sson as the pedal is moved, all controlled volumes become equal. So I am going to buy a stereo volume pedal so that the mix of live sounds stays the same, but can be increased/decreased. Those sequenced/audio tracks which don't need to be changed will be routed out of channels 5/6. Bass will go from 7 and a click track for the drummer will go from 8.

In theory anyway

Ray, don't go down the "Stereo Volume pedal" route, which is analog and far too complex. It's much simpler:

In Global mode>Controllers, set the pedal function to Expression (MIDI cc#11)

Then, in Combi mode, go to the MIDI filter page, as you've describe, and un-check the boxes for the channels that you don't want to change when you move the pedal.

That's it!

All your relative volume levels will stay the same, because you are using the Expression controller to change levels, not cc#7.
