Sequencer with a combi ?

Hi all,
I've only had my oasys for about a month so please allow me to ask a simple question I hope makes sense:
Imagine that I do Lead Splits --> Tangerine Skies. I play the key A for 4 beats, then down a key to G for 4 beats, down 3 keys to D for 4 beats, then up two keys to F for 4 beats. Tangerine Skies has some sound effects that overlap, so I want to repeat those keys for 2 measures.
How can I loop that? Can I do that via sequencer mode? In sequencer, I can get program bank sounds easy enough but I'm not sure if I can do combi's as I explained. I suppose I could sample it. My goal is to combine other combi's or program bank sounds on top off, maybe play other keyboards etc so I can improvise a bit.
Any ideas welcome, thanks!
Robert

Press ENTER & REC/WRITE, simultaneously. That will bring the combi into the sequencer, ready to record. Record your notes.
You can use the MIDI TRACK LOOP tab and check the box for track 1,6,7,12 and 14. (These tracks are used by KARMA, in Tangerine Skies.) Set loop start and end.
Now, you can select any of the last three program slots, since they are just default pianos. Copy a program to any of those and play on top of your loop.
Alternately:
Go to TRACK EDIT tab.
Select the dropdown menu and REPEAT MEASURE. Repeat measures for tracks 1,6,7,12 and 14, (or ALL MIDI TRACKS) then select how many times you want them to repeat.

I was able to get a combi loop via enter and rec-write, thanks! However, I'm having a hard time getting program sounds into the mix so I can play along.
If I understand correctly, with Tangerine Skies the tracks 14-16 are just defaults, so I've been trying to put guitars on track 16 - like the "screaming guitar" sound from the lead split combi "guitar heaven" track 1. However, the only time I can get any sound is via messing around with karma, and I can't get it to strum without an appregio of some sort - I wan't it to pick clean like the "guitar heaven" lead split. I went thru tons of GE catagories and it just seems like I'm in the wrong place.
Any ideas?

Just looked at that, again. That combi is using every track! It's really a busy one. My suggestion would be to record it to the audio tracks. Then, you can clear out that combi with whatever sound you like.
I made
THIS VIDEO, recently. Follow along with that, if you want to bounce Tangerine Skies to audio.

To go a COMPLETELY different direction, you could read up on patterns. Patterns are short sequences that you can trigger with keys. This can be really fun for looping as you can set up a bunch of different little phrases and either trigger them in real time, or timed with the master tempo.
This is totally different than Karma, and is potentially more work, but since you can write your own patterns note for note, it is totally flexible.

Kool video Mike, thanks! I've been following it but I can't get a signal in the Preferences audio levels.
Here's what I'm doing:
1) I lay down the measures fine into the midi tracks. Afterwards, I can hit the sequencer buttons locate then start/stop and hear what I recorded via my speakers connected to LR.
2) I then create a stereo pair on tracks 1 and 2 in the audio track mixer, assign it to LR, and in the midi mixer I change record to play.
Then I hit locate and start/stop in the sequencer. I hear sound out of my speakers, but I see no audio level in the preferences pane. Also, in track edit I see what I layed down in midi tracks but nothing in audio tracks. Am I missing a step? Perhaps the fact that I am recording to LR and that what I have my speakers connected to is the issue?
BTW tcornishmn, I'll be trying what you suggested also, thanks for the tip.

In the Audio Tracks window, did you check that little box - MULTI REC? Do that.
Did you also make sure that your audio tracks were set to REC?

Hi Mike,
I just viewed the video and want to thank you. This is and can be very useful. As always, well implemented and clearly laid out. Thanks again for your efforts.

Thanks for the link to your latest video segment.
Even though I read through tutorials about the steps involved in a process, I find that actually seeing you perform and explain the steps in your videos makes it so much easier to grasp the methods and their variations, and to see the final sucessful results.
The sequence in steps may be logical and intuitive to yourself and to other buffs, but the videos are really appreciated by newbies like myself.
You aid us immesurably in our creativity not being swamped or quashed by struggles with the buttons and concepts.
I also appreciate where you sometimes digress to show a step performed wrongly and illustrating the incorrect result.
Now it becomes clear to me -since the last video - how to build up a song using different programs whilst retaining the MIDI resuts for tweaking later.
Kudos.
You DE MAN!

Thanks Mike,
As always one thinks one knows most of the things and still there are amazing details to learn
Obliged to go on!

The OASYS workaround to "Freezing" and "Unfreezing" tracks.
