Can you connect an external fx processor?
The question is can you connect an external fx processor to process internal sounds and or audio(vocals in the Oasys) to the Oasys?
The reason why I am asking is because I have a wonderful lexicon reverb processor that I would like to use on my vocals. Of course without having it chained to my preamp.

EDIT:
Just tried this with my Yamaha SPX900 and it worked fine. Nice Hall Reverb, or any effect I wanted. I ran my microphone into a cable that fit into the 1/4" input of the SPX. I ran the two output cables, from the SPX to the OASYS 3 & 4 Inputs. I pressed the AUDIO IN/SAMPLING tab (Program, Combi or Sequence mode) and was able to run my SPX signal to L/R. I could have chosen an IFX (like a compressor) or other destination, under BUS SEL.
My SPX has a "Balance" setting, which is basically the dry/wet mix. I adjusted for how much reverb I wanted.
Another thing you could do is run your voice through the O-verb, but record just the dry signal to an Audio Track. That voice audio track can then be routed to any one of the 10 outputs and run to your Lexicon (provided you have a mixer to run the Lexicon and OASYS to).

I do not use a mixer. My goal was to use the lexicon like I would use the master fx. I tried to connect it by sending the output of an audio track that I already recorded to the 1st output of the 1-8. I connected a cable from that output to the in on my reverb and had another cable on the output going to the input 3 of the Oasys. I would like to know if I could hook it up without an external mixer. Thanks Mike.

Yes, yes, yes! I specifically pulled my SPX out of a rack to try this.RobertPlatinum wrote:I would like to know if I could hook it up without an external mixer.
I gave you two ways to do it; one with mixer and one without. This was the without part:

Just OASYS. No External Mixer needed for that operation.

I think I see what RP wants to achieve. He wants to use his SPX as an insertable FX unit using the buss sysetm of the Oasys for I/O.
He wants to put a Mic straight into one Oasys inputs and have that routed via one of the busses to a seperate output of the Oasys which is then connected into the SPX input. The output of the SPX would then go back into anther Oasys input, from there it would eventually go to the main Oasys L/R output. Just like the FX buss and send and return on a mixer.
This way he would also be able to send other Oasys Progs to the SPX too, and have them rejoin the Main L/R mix. I'll have a play with it on the weekend, it would be handy to have for outboard FX units.

Funny that you posted that, because I just made this video of the process - effecting internal sounds and mic, plugged into the OASYS. I also lay it down on a couple of audio tracks, without any mixer.

Thanks, Robert and Steve!
I take it, you didn't watch THE VIDEO?
That upgrade just came out.........3 years ago. Ha ha!Kevin Nolan wrote:That would be a VERY useful upgrade - if in software the OASYS provided an optional bus (or an extra 'external effect') that coulld be routed to/from physical outputs and inputs back to the main stereo bus.
