Muted recorded tracks = more polyphony?

Mute fully recorded tracks and than recording/playing another track, do I get the muted track's polyphony available? I'm apparently having polyphony problems with a single Piano track + String track (8/10 IFXs used = 14 FX + 86 voices available)...

I don't think so. IIRC hitting the Mute button just disconnects the audio output from the track.

There has been complaints about this before if I recall correctly.
I had an idea, at Track Parameter->MIDI page try to turn Status to OFF, I have not tried it yet but I think that sould release the polyphony.
In my view the mute button has an advantage working like that, as when the track is unmuted the sound keeps playing exactly as it would if the mute was never on. Think about long sustaining notes, they would not resume playing correctly if the mute button released the polyphony.

You are correct! To be more specific, Timbres set to "OFF" will not consume voices.

Wow, how's it feel to be right twice in one day? :D

There are design arguments that validate both methods. But of course, implement one method and people who want the other method are unhappy about it. Personally I'd love to see a preference for mute button behavior (or a new mute mode, i.e., Play, Mute, Off), but then again my wish-list for every piece of gear or software I own is miles long LOL!

I've just remembered... I could also record the same part in more than one track. You see, I'm I Piano based player, so, no matter the style of the song I 'm currently producing, I always add the Piano feel to it. When I record, I do it by parts - rec "intro" - stop - review recorded part - rec "1st verse" - stop - review recorded part - ... and so on. Maybe it's better this way?
