OASYS vocoding a choir compared to V-Synth Vocal Designer?

Post by Kevin Nolan »

Hi -

Is there anyone who can tell me if there is anything fundamentally different between the OASYS vocoding a choir (as excellently demo'd by Mike Conway on hid DVD) and the Vocal Designer technology built into the Roland V-Synth and VP550 synthesizers?

Kevin.

YouTube clip of what Kevin is referring to:

Vocoding Voice Over Choir

Haven't tried V-Vocal Designer. Would like to hear others' opinions, as well.

vocoders and choirs with vc-2 are amazing. be awared that with the vp550 you have less possibiities than the vc-2 itself (v-synth XT or v-synth equipped with vc-2 card, or varios with vc2 card). what i do like the most with the vc2 is that there are a lot of vocoder emulated (like vp330) and that you can achieve result near a talk box. i made a demo of the card some years ago, will try to find it later.

but i must mike choir is quite good, i'm even surprised.

Mike's demo is great (as are all of his tutorials, including the DVD!).

Yep, Mike's Video demo's are great...
they would be even better if Korg released a Vocal Designer for the O that would leave Roland drooooling - Yes? Kevin's question would be insignificant then lol

Absolutely bang on! I have the V-synth XT with VC-2 Vocal Designer built in. It's amazing and far more comprehensive than our OASYS vocoding functions. A full-blown EXi Vocal Processor for the OASYS would be a truly awesome addition.

I'm with you. This might be the best Idea I've seen on the forum. Outstanding! :D
