Buffer overrun error

Post by sidefx »

I'm confused. My Ex has 16meg of ram.. I converted part of an mp3 file to wave. It's properties are 16 bit, 44100 Hz total size 5.2 meg. Saved to USB and connected USB device to EX. In Media mode with file selected, pressing Start/Stop will start the playback of the file but after 15 secs I get buffer overrun error. Why is this happening when the file is less than the 16 meg of ram the EX recognizes as being installed. Same error occurs at same point weather the ram chip is installed or not. Is it even using this chip during playback? What can I do to be able to play back more than 15 secs of this wave file? Thanks in advance.............

You must copy only to CF card and do not use USB devices for play back.

I get the same problem when using a memory stick in the USB slot. When you press the play button for a selected file it reads it straight off the stick and tries to play it, but I think Korg's USB implementation is not fast enough to stream the music off the stick correctly.

As mentioned earlier, the Compact Flash card will work. I've got one and if I copy the file over to this then it plays OK.

Annoying, but that's the way it is...

Thanks. Guess i will have to go out and buy a compact flash drive and card. I have searched the forums for compatible cf cards but was unable to find anything.
Are there any certain requirements for the card?

I've got several different makes that work. Firstly a really cheap 1Gig probably Transcend - no probs (although I've had problems with an SD card of this make). I've also got a Kingston 2G and a Scandisk 1G Extreme II which I paid a bit more for (prices are stupidly low nowadays though!). All of them work and they work at the same speed as well, so there's not much point in buying a 'faster' one. Haven't tried 4Gig though. One thing about the CF card instead of USB stick is that you can leave it in the triton - that means you won't forget it for a gig! I keep a stick as well for backups just in case.
