moving song files around efficiently

I find the file management functions on the OASYS to be very cumbersome. Let's say I have 25 directories of songs. Now I want to copy all of the best songs to a single new directory (call it VAULT). I want to avoid copying entire directories so that VAULT gets cluttered with 25 subdirectories, thus defeating my ability to easily find the final version of each song. What is the easiest way to do this? I've had the OASYS for a year and a half, and I am still frustrated by the file management features.

A full featured librarian would do the trick nicely. Daz had one working for Macs until some code changes happened in an update. There is also another fellow who had one for PC's but I don't know what it's status is.

Try searching Librarian on this forum to see what pops up.

The librarians around don't do anything with songs, that's a whole other kettle of fish.

If I had to do what you're trying to do I would copy the entire top level folder to a USB memory stick and then plug that into my Mac to do the necessary jigging around with the files/folders, and then plug it back into the Oasys. To do what you're describing the Oasys would need to have something with multiple views or the ability to search/list files with a particular extension akin to the Finder/Explorer and that isn't likely to happen. Personally I'd like to see just some basic improvements like support for long (or at least longer) file names and the ability to specify an autoload file.

That would have been my suggestion as well. Just copy what you want to a flash drive, take it to your computer, then reorganize the folder(s) there however you want. Reload the new folder(s) onto the flash drive, then load into your OASYS.
