Oasys - Record Sample and convert to program - loose sound
The issue i have is that i keep on loosing the sound in a program which i had previously sampled.
Steps i took:
1) Record sample from an external source (ie MP3 player) and set Save To > Disk - As i know if its in the RAM it will be lost on reboot.
2) Now Convert MS to Program and save under User B category
4) Navigate to Program Mode to where the sample was saved and select the C2 note - the sample plays fine. (save the program)
5) Navigate to Combi mode and select the same program on say channel 1 and select the C2 note - This also plays the sample fine (save the combi)
6) Now reboot the Oasys
7) Navigate back to the program or combi and select the C2 note - It does not play the previously recorded sample!!
I have also tried this by saving the sample as a wave file on the HDD (which i saved from a USB stick), so the sample is permenently on the HDD, but every time i reboot the oasys i loose the sound in the program & combi because i have lost the sample.
Can anyone please help
Thanks

James -
I'm new to this (and still have incomplete knowledge so other experts should chime in). However, it looks to me like you did not save the multisample to disk. I'm currently building a 'VP-330' for the OASYS and from the manual and others here had confirmed that this is the requried procedure:
- In Sample mode, record in the sample.
- In disk mode, save the sample into a named folder on the OASYS HD.
- In disk mode, select the saved wav file and load it into memory
- In Sample mode:
--In Sampler Recording Mode, make a new multisample based on this sample:
----Create the Multisample
----Name the Multisample
----In each required Index (perhaprs only one for you?), select the appropriate sample and set the other parameters
--In Sample Edit mode, Edit the range
--In Sample Edit mode, Normalize the sample
--In Sampler Loop Edit Mode, set the start point, Loop Start and End point
--In Disk mode, choose Save Sample Data and choose One Multisample
--/* The multisample is now created */
--Create a new program and assign the multisample and other parameters
-- Save the Program (it is now acssociated - (IN RAM ONLY) with its multisample data)
- Save a PCG file containing that Program. This saves the Program, and its associated multisample data, to the Hard Disk.
so there are thee items to be saved to disk:
- The sampe data as a Wav
- The Multisample
- the Program associated with that Multisample (as a PCG file).
I'm 95% confident that this is the procedure but would be grateful for confirmation by Sharp, Daz or others.
Cheers,
Kevin.

Thanks Kevin, But I had no luck.
All the files (ie wav, multi sample * PCG) are on the HDD but everytime i reboot it loses the sound in Program mode.
I found that i had to load the sample again, go to Sample and select the loaded sample, then i i played the Program it sounded correctly. But this meant i a had to load the sample then select the sample everytime i turned on the OASYS.
Any other ideas? Or is this a limitation of the Oasys?
Thanks

The sample data has to be saved in the Korg Sample Format (*.ksf). Import the WAVE sample, create a multi-sample and use the multi-sample in the context of a program. After that, write the program to memory and save program (*.pcg) and sample data (*.ksc) to disk using the Disk Mode.Kevin Nolan wrote: so there are thee items to be saved to disk:

Thanks elvisjohndowson - yes they are the correct steps - cheers!
Sorry jamesi - not sure on that. I usually retain the 'enigma flute' on my OASYS, but I can’t remember if it loads the samples automatically on bootup. I suspect it does, but I'll need to check on that later and get back to you. Anyone else know?
Kevin.

'Tis true. The Oasys will not load your KSC file at startup. It's been on our (the users) wishlist for sometime. It's a function you'll find on most contemporary sampling gear like the Motif or MPCs, and is missing from all the Korg workstations.jamesi wrote:

As the guys have said, you're going to need to load your KSC file(s) everytime you power up your Oasys. There is no other way around it currently.
Daz.

Yes,jamesi wrote:Yes when i saved it as a ksc file then i load it it works.
