how do I copy a single song to a destination?
This is a really basic question, but I'm not a newbie. How do you copy a single song to a different directory? I want to aggregate final version of each of 21 songs that are spread across many different directories on the Oasys. They are all going on the same album. It is maddening to have to search for them across lots of different directories. When I find the song, I can't figure how to copy only it--and not the entire directory in which it is located. (After 18 months of using the Oasys, I think that file management is its most frustrating foible.) Thanks.
Are you referring to individual songs within a .SNG file or are each of your songs in their individual .SNG files ?
To copy just a single .SNG file from one folder to another just select the file (by touching it) and then use the Copy command from the Page Menu of the Utility tab to Paste it to another location.
If you want to copy a single song from within an .SNG file that you've 'explored into' using the Open button, that's a whole other matter
In that case you'll need to load the individual song from the .SNG file and then save it to a separate file in your other location.

Sorry, but I need a simpler answer. I open a directory called "ZEP" and have a song called "Stairway to Heaven" and I want to copy only that song to a new directory called "ZOFO." There are other songs in ZEP, such as "When the Levee Breaks." But I only want to copy "Stairway" into ZOFO. I can't do it. If I use the utility option for Copy, it is disabled at the song-specific level. I have to copy all of ZEP into ZOFO in order to copy merely "Stairway" into ZOFO. Am I missing something obvious? This seems like such a basic human need--to copy one song from one directory to another.
What you're missing is that you're not trying to copy a song from a folder, but from within a song file. That isn't possible as you've found. So as I said above you need to load the individual song from Disk mode into sequencer mode and then save the song back down into it's individual .SNG file in a folder somewhere. That's the simplest answer I can offer, because that's how it works
