Hi
I would like to know which advantages the Radias have over the R3?
I know it has more polyphony (24 vs. 8, right?), and it obviously has better control over the sound (much more knobs), but in terms of overall sound and sonic possibilities, are there advantages?
Best regards

it has 2 polyphonic note step sequencers (different to the modulation sequencers), so that you can program in sequences such as melody, bass line, chords.. and it has four timbres, so you can use that extra polyphony to make more layered sounds. it also aparantly has some different samples such as organs, strings, synth choir, rather than just the old DWGS waveforms.
personally i believe the polyphony alone makes it worthwhile, means you can use it as a great sound module. i almost prefer mine to my workstation, it route everything to it.
it also has drums, which you can obviously control from one of the step sequencers. the drums are really cool and definately under-rated as each of the 16 drum sounds in each 'kit' can use all of the synth archetecture besides the insert effects, so its REALLY programmable.

This review of the R3 on soundonsound seems to do a good job comparing the two.

I currently have a R3, but will very likely buy the Radias soon. I had always planned on getting the Radias, but bought the R3 because Guitar Center had it on sale for $585, making to $385 with the recently ended $200 rebate from Korg. I also wanted to see how much I would like a Radias type synth. I love it, it is really easy to create your own sound. However, playing with the R3, I can see some of it's limitations compared to the Radias. But, I still have a lot on the R3 to explore. So I look forward to owning a Radias fairly soon, but am more than satisfied with the R3 for now. I can't decide if I would sell the R3 after I get a Radias.

Beside of the two step sequencers, the Radias has three modulation sequencers per timbre (the R3 has only one per timbre). Another advantage of the Radias: You can select different shapes for the envelope phases. And last, but not least: The Radias arpeggiator has 16 steps with programmable velocity for every step, the R3 arpeggiator has only 8 steps w/o programmable velocity.

Thanks for all your helpful answers.
I was also wondering if i choose the Radias which version should I get, just the rack or the keyboard too?
I already have a nice amount of keyboards and thinking about getting others, so I was wondering if on Radias case that it would probably be better to choose just the rack, or is the keyboard really good?
Best regards

you have 112 Programs from the Korg R3 ready to use in the Korg Radias but you will never have 112 programs from the Korg Radias ready to use in the R3
