I used Acronis Disk Director. There was no perceptable noise increase. I didnt time it, but I think it's about 1.75 times faster than the 4200RPM one.
elvis,

I went to the Acronis website and read thru the product info. It seemed to me that the product "True Image" seemed like the one to use for the data migration/cloning. It can work in tandem with the "Disk Director" which seemed to me more of a partition manager.

Could you shed a little more light on this since I'm not familiar with the company or it's products?

Hi, Acronis Disk Director has a partition manager that can be used to copy partition images to an external hard drive. You need to remove the Oasys HDD, connect it to a USB enclosure (or 2nd HDD bay of an IBM ThinkPad), run Disk Director and opt to save all the linux partitions to a disk image file.
