Hi Franzlp,

You are right - B4 is stunning, no doubt. But please go to East West/Ivory websites and listen to demos of the pianos and ochestra - you can't get that realism on Oasys.

I am not a Mac Pro/Logic fanboy either - I bought the O to get rid of the computer rig for music - I spent the whole day in front of the computer screen - any possibility to get rid of the big screens and keyboard is a blessing for me and I tried very hard to use sequencing/mixing capabilities of Oasys. But it turned out that again I sit in front of the computer for music plus one sceen more in Oasys that can't be turned off.

When I say that Mac Pro is very powerful, I really mean this. Recently, I mixed a large project with lots of Logic virtual instruments, plugins etc. Not a single glitch, crash or any problem, no need for track freezing. Pure pleasure. Of course, Oasys is far superior to Logic internal VIs:-). Night and day difference.

I'm not going to argue the DAW route, especially since with the OASYS' recorder is 16 bit. But,....it can get very expensive, even though it looks cheap to start.

I was impressed with this guy's MUSIC. This is his setup:

I've (re)started my homestudio with Oasys-only. I had a hard time as I was used to an "old" Cubase VST. The O-sequencer works technically well but is not the ... uhm ... "most comfortable" one to use. But I definetly enjoyed working on one integrated platform (no driver problems, stable environment, perfect integration, fewer cables etc.).

However - as I wanted to use the Karma Oasys software of Stephen Kay I had to get a computer again - the whole computer-sh.. started again. Later on I tumbled over the RMX drum-plugin simplifying drumrecording a lot. So I ended up with Logic Express on a 24' iMac, Apogee, RMX etc.

First I got angry. The whole simplification was gone. I had to get used to even more software befor I could make music again. But now I'm quite happy with my DAW/Oasys-combination.

Could one do high quality recording with just an Oasys? Yes! Beside "just 16 bit" that is possible. Its not as comfortable as an usual DAW but on the other hand it's less complicated than a DAW and better integrated. In any case I recommend buying an Oasys if one can afford it!
