Tube help..

Post by quicksilverp3 »

Just bought a Triton and wanted to make sure my tube works. I noticed the tip of it is black... is that normal? When enabling it and messing with knobs it seems to work, but I can't see it glowing at all (maybe the blue light is making it harder?)

Isn't the tube supposed to a glow a little?

There were some previous posts about this and, if I remember correctly, no - you can't see it glowing. Amplifiers use tubes differently than our keyboards as in we don't have to produce a lot of power with these. This single tube is only used for effects to warm sounds and not pushing out a huge signal. It was stated that the reason they put the blue led with the tube was because it didn't glow (I don't know if that is true or not).

As far as the tip being black - Are you talking the very very tip, like the last 4 or 5 millimeters or the upper 25% of the tube??

If it is working then I wouldn't worry about it.

I think that's just the tube design. Mine is the same way :)
