TRITON STUDIO VS TRITON EXTREME ?

I’m a hip hop producer in the market for a keyboard and I have narrowed my choices down to 2 particular boards the triton extreme and the triton studio. I love the aesthetics of the studio as opposed to the triton I have a power book G4 and it would go nicely with it. I know looks are at the bottom of the list when it comes to priorities but I want the total package if possible great sounds great functionality and great looks. The triton Extreme has more sounds as well as the moss option I don’t know if the studio can use the moss boards or not but that’s one of my fav features of the extreme not to mention the usb connectivity Note I don’t produce on a daw I use a MPC 4k as my center piece but it’s always nice to have that option all though I don’t know what purpose it serves besides using your computers hard disk and the tube technology is another hot feature. I’m torn between these two boards I wonder if a fully upgraded studio has an advantage over or is equal to the extreme in my case. I’ve read specs but I want to know what actual triton users think. One of the two will be my first keyboard my budget is $1500.00 which is more than enough to get a 61 key model off eBay It would be nice to save a little bit of money to go towards my motif rack XS as well so with all these things in consideration what do you guys think ?

Long story short, Extreme is better choice. I'm not sure you can find newish Studio fully packed and Extreme can still be found new or not used much and it has all the best from Studio expansions.

I have both and am still torn between them. I think the studio sounds richer and I use it for a lot of our lead sounds live. The extreme, well, I just couldn't live without it either. It's a tough say man.

No!! It's a toss up. I actually do hear the difference between the two boards but I love the added features and sounds and the Valve Force of the Extreme.
Most of our music is driven by the Extremes and it's programs but we use the studio for a lot of the lead sounds. I just like both boards

re the extrene, I have one and would imagine that the valve would help produce some phat hip hop beats PLUS the sound banks are amazing. USB A/B connects and compact flash are also a bonus. Plus optional MOSS board also offers some great tweakable sounds.
But... I also had a studio and the build quality was amazing. The extreme sounds great but is waaaayyyy too plasticky for my liking.

I have an Extreme and love all the sounds, too, but I think the ability--and the several different ways--to connect to a computer would be more important...and the Extreme has a definite advantage there.
[edit] We also have a Studio at our church. I can't tell the difference in sounds (on the sounds that are on both). I like the Extreme's sounds better for the rest, especially the vintage keys sounds, which is why I got it.

We also have a Triton Studio at our church and I play the TEX. As far as the sounds go...they have the same sound engine, and the Programs loaded on the Studio (A-D) are the same as those on the Extreme (J-M). With the studio, you can load expansion boards, but on the extreme half of the boards you can get are already stored on there...and the "best of" the rest are preloaded on the Extreme.
The Studio has better construction, hands down. The Extreme is mostly plastic. The Studio has an internal hard-drive, a CD burner, and a floppy drive (optional). The TEX has USB ports type A and B. So if you have a computer with a hard-drive(that was a joke)...and a CD burner...then you can use them via the TEX USB ports...and you're good to go.
The Extreme has S/P DIF digital I/O. Studio doesn't have this type of connection. I think it has a SCSI instead.
Finally the Extreme has a Tube circuit. Thus you can warm your sound...or throw in some analog distortion. This does not come on the Studio.
The Studio is what it says...a "studio" in a box. If you have a computer, better yet a laptop computer(for portability), then the Extreme can do everything the Studio can...and then some. Again, the Extreme is mostly plastic, so you have to really baby it to keep it in good condition. I bought a Gator Flight Case for mine. And I'm the only one that loads and unloads it...so that keeps it in good shape.
PS - If you like the sounds on the Studio...they can be faithfully recreated on the Extreme. You can load those sounds on your extreme...just change the bank references.

The Extreme-88 is far better built than the 61/76 key version.

The Studio does have S/P DIF and it's a lightpipe connection just like the Extreme.
Also, you can record into your inputs 1 and 2 (guitar, bass, etc.) directly to a track in the sequencer in one take. Maybe I'm nuts but, for those of you that have access to both, go to Program Mode and pull up Noisy Stabber on both units and A/B them. I think they do sound a little different.
For just out of the box, pure ready to go power, yes - I think the Extreme is better.

I can and I will but, at the moment, I have both of my workstations heavily involved on something I'm working on - hell, I haven't turned them off for two weeks!!
