Hi,
Can the Korg KP3 accept data other than the midi clock via MIDI IN
For example a midi note via MIDI IN would affect the internal syths of the Korg KP3 (or even the drum machine).
cheers...

yes and no
you can use midi notes to control the 4 sample pads
but for the synths its all done with cc numbers
to get a note you have to transmit 3 numbers
the x y and touch

Cool. I know what is a MIDI CC message, (x and y) but what is the "touch" ?
I want to trigger the kp3's synth from a midi controller instead of the touchscreen.
What i would do : set up my midi controller so that for example Knob 1 is the Y axis and the trigger button below, say Button 1 is the X axis. What's the "touch" message you're talking about? Please reply! thanks!

hey man
first off, i don't think there's a way to control the notes of the KP3 synths, so you couldn't send just note values at it.
what you want to do to trigger a position on the touchpad is
send x value, send y value, send touchpad on.
that looks something like
B0 0C XX
B0 0D yy
B0 5c 7F
to turn it off send
B0 5C 00
Alternately you could turn the HOLD button on and off instead of the touchpad in which case you replace all instances of 5C with 5F i think.
XX and YY values are 0-127 but don't be fooled into thinking each square takes up 16 spaces... instead 0-1 is the first square, 2-19 is the second square, etc. kinda random.
