The way I've been transferring my songs so far is by hooking my Korg Triton to a digital 8-track and recording them that way, then transferring the WAVs from the compact flash onto the computer (since my Korg is too far away to hook into the computer directly), then converting to mp3 in WavePad...so I was natually hoping there was a quicker, less primitive method.

.SNG to MIDI conversion?
Is there any such software to convert Korg .sng files to midi? I have a USB unit that will .SNG files to my computer, it's just that now I need a program to read them. I've looked all about the internet, but haven't found any such thing, so your help would be much appreciated!

The .sng files will contain no audio. They simply contain the contents of the sequencer and its set-up. If you want to access this on the computer you could save a .smf (simple Midi File) from the TR/LE, but you will loose some of the information I believe.
Because when you are making a .sng no audio is recorded, just midi note on/off, controller change messages - it is a midi sequencer.
Recording to a multitrack or directly to a computer through an audio interface is the most common method.
edit:
your post subject talks about getting MIDI, but then you talk about capturing waves.
You can get the MIDI by saving as a .smf
