I hope everyone is happy in Korgforumland. Im happy for having bought a kp3 pad some months back. But unhappy I still haven't managed to hook it up successfully to cubase 4 yet. Which is why I bought it. Would anyone mind if I shared my problem? Thanks lads.

I have an imac intel 10.5 / roland edirol ua25 usb / and cubase 4 the latest. I think I have it all wired correctly. In cubase it appears in the inserts as an external effect and I've selected it. The kp3 audio inputs + outputs are appropriately connected to the ua25 I think.

Im trying to set it up so that I can send the cubase channel live into the kp3 - mess around with the sound on the pad and be sending it back to a new cubase track simultaneously where it can hopefully be recorded live.

I have the kp3 set to 7 (usb) which someone said is wrong.

Does this make any sense to anyone?

Kind regards - Ken

Hi Ken

Welcome to KF.

I'll move you question to the Kaoss section, hopefully someone there will be able to help out.

You can start by reading the manual.

"[7] USB
You can connect the KP3 to your computer
and read/write the contents of the inserted
card via USB. For details, refer to “Connecting
a computer.”

That's not what you're trying to do, so why are you doing that?

That USB port has nothing to do with the audio or using it as an effects loop. It's for remote control of the KP3 with a computer using the editor software or to use its MIDI interface with the USB-midi driver, but no audio signals at all.

You need to treat the KP3 as an effects loop. To do that, follow page 9 of the manual for the DJ mixer connections, just substitute the computer's audio in/out for the DJ mixer in/outs. You need to have the CONNECTION switch set to SEND, as shown in the diagram.
