Hi Brian,

Could you pass an invitation from me to Frank at Bavas music for him to contribute his knowledge by submitting replies on this forum?

Thanks,
Rob

Hey Rob,
I'm sorry, I didn't write my last posting too clearly as it was the rep from Music-Link, Tony, who made those comments! Frank from Bavas rang him for a three way conversation after I rang the shop. Cheers, Brian

Well, it's Thursday and I received an email from Tony at Music-Link. He has given me the address of a repairer writing, "they will look at it", which doesn't fill me with any confidence.
I have checked their website site and they are an official repairer for many instuments including
Bose, Yamaha, Denon, Onkyo, Nad, Marantz, Richter, Energy, Armacon, Cerwin Vega, but do not list Korg.
Their site says "if it's electronic, we can fix it".
I'm wondering if this is reasonable practice for a new keyboard and if they are, 'electronically', all similiar.
Cheers, Brian

Hi Brian,

Ive noticed you made your purchase from Bavas music in Liverpool

Just send it back to the store, and demand an explanation from them, it is thier duty to take care of it. A 3 week old keyboard should not be displaying that kind of faults or any faults for that matter if it was properly tested before you purchasing it.

I say return it back and let them exchange it for you.

I agree with you 100% Music Link doesn't reply to any emails. I sent them an email 2 months ago and they are yet to reply.

Thanks mrkorg, I'm really not sure what too do. It's about $120 in petrol to take the Korg to Newcastle, come home, then go and pick it up when and if it's ready (I am on the Central Coast between Sydney and Newcastle).

And how long will It be gone, that's serious withdrawl time for a new and much loved instrument?

Bavas and Music-Link are, in customer service terms, the same dog with a different leg action, and just getting to communicate with Frank from Bavas has been somewhat exchausting and mostly futile. The woman who works there and answers the phone epitomises ignorance and would only get away with her behaviour in a family business, but I digress.

I should do as you said, I agree, but instead I have written and think I will send a letter of complaint to Mr. Tsutomu Katoh the Korg Chairman in Japan complete with documentation of the treatment of this Korg customer by their distributor in Australia. It may not prove much or mean anything, but at least I willl feel better!

Hi Brian,

I feel very sorry for you, i can only imagine what you are going through. To go through everything that you have with an instrument worth more than $5000 is just appaling to say the least at the way both Bavas and Musiclink have treated you.

If you are from the Central Coast, why didn't you go to Turramurra music, they are probably the best in Australia, you could also have gone to Billy Hyde, there is one in Newcastle.

The customer service at bavas is the worst ive seen in my life, ive made a pact never to go there again from the way they treated me, like you said both them and musiclink are the same dog.

I don't think writing to Korg Japan is a wise move, i mean its not thier fault, they can't be held accountable for everything that goes wrong. My advice to you is return the keyboard and get a refund and buy it from turra mysic or billy hyde, or demand an exchange. Let them deal with musiclink themselves, they are not handing out freebiz to anyone you paid for it fair and square.

The letter isn't an attempt to blame Korg, not at all mr korg, it's an attempt to perhaps create a ripple effect reasonable response, perhaps a review of dealing with music-link as Korg's representatives in Australia, perhaps an expression of frustration, or just blah blah blah.
The pa2xpro retails in Australia for $7000. Bavas maybe ordinary once they do the deal, but they are very price competitive. My fiance and I tried to negotiate a deal with Turramurra, with Macron, and with lots of music shops, I promise. We looked for 3 weeks. NONE of them would go near the $5500 price of Bavas. Not even close. I realise to overseas byers the price probably seems outrageous, but that's the deal in Australia. They even would have done it for $4800 if we payed cash or card instead of a 'pay in 12 months' deal. 8) Hey, life goes on bro, but thanks for your advice.

Brian,

I think you know now that if paying an extra dollar would give you more in the long run, you will go for it.

I'm surprised you didn't find it cheaper at turra music or at billy hyde. I'm 1000% sure they would have smashed the price at bavas. I got a quote from them cheaper than $5500. Bavas boast they are the cheapest in all of Oz, but they're not and i know that for certain.

My friendly advice is never shop there again. If they were to offer me the wholeplace for 100 bucks i wouldn't take it.

Cheers.

Now mrkorg, methinks your blowing hot air now brother. Turramurra are a very expensive music shop and Billy Hyde sells at absolute r.r.p.
So, lets leave it there, eh?

For the benefit of those interested the Korg has been at a repairer for 3 weeks next Monday. I just spoke to the repairman and he finally had a return email from Tony at MusicLink (remember him Rob?) and guess what he advised? To download the operating system! I rang Frank from Bavas and he said he would contact Tony and organise a replacement as we all know that is not the problem. This has been a very painful experience, lol, but life goes on. Seeya.

Hey Everyone

I know this is a bit of a blo in
but i just wanted to say that
the people in bavas music are very
rude and igonerent.
THey only treat you fairly before the sale is made
the moment you make the purchase and leave
you will never get the same treatment from them again
and since it is a family bussiness they all back each other up.
That is why i made my pa800 purchase from
TURRUMMURA MUSIC which is 100% best
in NSW if not in AUSTRALIA.

a bit off the topic but i had to say that.

Hmmmm, I'm not sure the issue thus far is that relevant to Bavas. They sold me the pa2xpro at an elsewhere unmatched price.

As far as Frank at Bavas is concerned, he has been helpful, friendly and is following up the issue.

Music Link are the Korg distributor in Australia and, clearly, are the villains in this saga. Mind you the repairer, Rytron, has "master keyboard repairer" written on their business card which seems somewhat ironic.

Sigh.

MrKorg and nabil_kh2 don't like Bavas, I get that, but talk is cheap boys, and please nabil_kh2, if Turramurra are that good, they would have sold you the Pa2xPro.

Seeya.

Just my 2c worth - I bought my Pa1x from Bavas 2 1/2 years ago at an unmatched price - service was friendly. When it needed repairs though (small tear in velocity strip) the only authorised repairer in Sydney didn't know much at all about the keyboard. After over 3 weeks they finally said it was ready but when I decided to try it out at the repairers the problem was still there. So I hung about while they opened it up again and we had a close look and noticed the small tear in the rubber velocity strip. A strip was pulled from another keyboard (yes many use the same system) and it was fixed. Again friendly enough but i got the impression this was the first Korg they had ever worked on!.
Anyhow - true to their word, the repairer posted out a couple of new strips to me as spares - one of which I have already replaced myself.
The moral of all this. I think there simply are not enough of these keyboards about for any local repairers to know much about them.
However if the problems with the Pa2x keep appearing this could soon change. :?
Hope its fixed soon.
John
