so i tried what you told me but it didn't work.
i explain you: i'm drummer. i want to send stereo sample live. i want the emx to give me the click and in the same time i start the emx, i want it to start a sample on the sp 555.
in live condition, it would be: i start a song on the emx, the click begins, and the sp 555 begins also.
the midi works, i manage to start the sp555 but not the good sample. it's always the pattern mode that runs but i'd like a song to start instead. i know the note of each song (E#6, C5...) but i don't know how to assign each emx's song to start the sp555's songs.
tell me if you know how to do!!! maybe with another device?

i'm not sure if you can alter the song select (SS) messages that the EMX transmits. it's likely that you'll have to try to change the SP555's SS message assignments if you can. otherwise, you might need some sort of interpretive software between them.
in the meantime, why not turn off program changes in the EMX, and when you're playing live, just set your SP555 to the song you want to begin. it's one tiny extra step at the start of each song, but at least that way, when you hit Play on the EMX, your SP555 starts up with the right song.
here's a link to the EMX's MIDI implementation, if that helps:

in fact you can't "choose" a song on the sp. it's a hit'n'play stuff. you only have buttons to hit to begin samples.
and for the midi implementation, maybe it could be helpful, but i'm just a complete dick at that! i don't understand a word. don't forget i'm a drummer: beer, food, beat.
at this point i can just start te emx to have the click, then i push manually the sp's button to begin the sample. but i have to be very precise at the beginning otherwise the click is not good for the rest of the song!
well, i"m not sure the emx can do what i want.
maybe someone has another tip?

this is the part you posted that threw me off: "the midi works, i manage to start the sp555 but not the good sample. it's always the pattern mode that runs but i'd like a song to start instead. i know the note of each song (E#6, C5...)"
so what you mean is, you want the patterns on the EMX-1 to trigger samples on the SP555 (which i think you mentioned earlier, but then you added the above, so i got lost for a minute).
okay, now i think i'm getting you. can't you just set up a pattern within your EMX-1, using one of the 5 synth parts to trigger samples from the SP? like, say the SP is setup so that sample pad #1 is note C2, and you have the SP set up on MIDI channel 1. simply record a pattern on your EMX, and use synth part 1 to play C2 on the first step. do this with all the other samples you'd like to start wherever, and you should be good.
hopefully that clears things up, but let me know if i'm still barking up the wrong tree.

mmh... that could be good. i tried this but with a drum part. and i had to keep my finger on the button all time. i'll try this tomorrow on rehearsal and i tell you.
by the way, thanks dude for helping a poor little french lost in the midi world, who should a slept less during the english lessons at school!

no problem! i'm sure you'll get it figured out with time.
also, in order to prevent the SP555's sequencer from starting every time the EMX-1 starts, you have to set up the SP555 to ignore the start command coming from the EMX. there might not be a way to do that, so you might just try changing the SP555's MIDI clock from external to internal. hopefully then only the samples will be triggered from the EMX, but the patterns on the SP won't play.
good luck!
