Public ID hassles - can't purchase

I'd love to purchase the Mod 7, LAC and Brass/Wind set, but my public id isn't accepted at the korg user site.
I've been in touch with a nice fella from Korg in NJ who's promised me an update (I've been through three Oasys, so somewhere along the line, my final p-id never got recorded).
I understand these things have to go through Japan, but it's been almost two full days and my ID still doesn't work.
One would think replacing my public ID would be a simple matter in the internet age, but I guess not ....
Why, even with the assistance of someone at Korg, does something like this takes so long to remedy

ED,
My wait time was about 2 months over Christmas & winter NAMM, etc. (nobody was home)
Your mileage may vary.
2 days?

I hate to say it but I've also been thru 3 Oasys workstaions...things happen...
My first Oasys took a serious dump...they couldn't even explain what hapened.
The second Oasys ( which I was extremely thankful Korg sent with no questions asked ) was beat to hell during shipment...
My current Oasys doged all the stray bullets that are apparently sniping the road to my house...

...
...Sorry to hear about your P-ID problem... as I said, and we all know, things happen.

Similar to Swampfox, my first two Oasys units failed without explanation - rather quickly.
The second one just froze whenever it was booted.
My third one is over two years old now and performs flawlessly - however, after loading 1.3.1a, I experienced my first ever freeze on this particular unit. A reboot cleared it.
Hope it's just an anomaly.
Going to try the public ID thing this morning.

If the issue is new purchases (instead of transferring existing purchases), you should be able to simply register the new OASYS Public ID on Korguser.net yourself, without need for assistance.

Dan,
That solution wasn't presented to me - I believe since I had been registered under a different public ID (for one of the older units), the person at Korg felt he had to put the new one through - perhaps the old one needed to be cleared first?
At any rate, it still doesn't work - frustrating.

Have you already purchased any options for the OASYS using the previous Public ID? If not, then you can simply register the new unit on Korguser.net.

Remember that when you go to korguser.net, to click on the little OASYS box, on the upper left. The blanks at the right are for the software synth versions and not the OASYS!

Dan,
Since ten days have now gone by and I still can't seem to give Korg $650 to purchase three plug ins, I decided to call Korg and ask about Dan's suggestion.
I was assured I can't do this since my public ID has to be corrected in Japan - I was told I can't simple register the new ID, even if I hadn't purchased anything with the old number.
I was also assured I'd get a call today with the confirmation my Public ID had been changed and I could go ahead and purchase.
The call never came.
So I logged onto korguser and guess what - it still doesn't work.
This is just terrible customer support - I don't know what else to call it - here I am trying to give Korg $650 and I can't seem to do it - it's been over ten days.
Remarkable ....... one wonders what the future of the Oasys really is with a system as broken as this one apparently is.

I'm sorry to hear that you're still having difficulties.
Does your new OASYS have a different serial number than the previous one? If so, please try my suggestion from above: log on to korguser.net, and simply add the new OASYS (including both the new serial number and the new Public ID) to your account.
Please let me know if this works.
Best regards,
Dan

Thanks Dan, at this point, I'm willing to give it a try - why not.

Please note that, after registering the new OASYS unit, you'll need to make sure that you purchase licenses for its public ID, and not for the old one.

hi Ed:
I'm sorry to see the confusion here. it seems that the person who needs to handle the transfer of the records in Japan is away on a personal family matter, and the emails from us have gone unanswered. So I can push the issue to someone else to get this resolved right away, which I've just done.
Then I came here to tell you and see Dan's suggestion, which would work. So I just need to know which route you're taking so I can revise what I sent to japan (or not). Let myself or Ian know. And again, sorry you got caught in this snafu.
Regards,
Jerry

I've followed Dan's suggestion as Ian called today to say it was the preferred way to go.
So far, so good.
I've registered the new (latest) Oasys with its serial number and public ID.
I then purchased the LAC and Mod plugins.
I was sent authorization numbers for both.
Tomorrow, I'll type them in the Oasys and hope it all works.
Thanks for clearing this up - wish I had known the fix was this easy from the outset.
