combinations and midi

Hi,
I´m a new member and got my oasys a week ago and it´s a fantastic instrument. Now I´m reprograming my live setup and have a question concerning combination and midi:

How can I play a timbre via midi/my masterkeyboard, without having the sound on the keys of the oasys?

I put some organs and pads on the keyzones, and I want to play a pianosound via my masterkeyboard, but there is only timbre setting ext/ext2 for sending, not for receiving midi. And if I put the setting to bth, I have the sound on the oasys-keys. My Kurzweil has a "midi" setting, where it sends and receives per each zone messages via midi and the sound is "local off". Is there anything similar within the oasys? (Keyzones besides the physical range of the keys and transpose are a solution I found out, but it doesn´t help if I need some more sounds played via midi.

Sorry if this question is too simple, but I didn´t find a solution and no topic in the forum about it.

thanks

If you mean Local Mode Off, then go to Global Mode....click global button, then press Midi Tab on screen, and look for a small box called Local Control On and then make sure this is unchecked...no red colour in box :)

when this is unticked and you play the Oasys keyboard, then the sound will not play directly, it will only play the sound if you use an external sequencer and set the midi port in and out to the midi connection the Oasys is on. Also make sure in your external sequencer to allow midi thru so that it will send the midi commands in and through the sequencer back out to the Oasys or other synth.

If you want to play the Oasys from another keyboard then just set that keyboard as the midi in on your external sequencer and midi out to OASYS and then it should work just as well.

I hope that answers your question ok, but if not let us know and I'll try to add more :)

Thank you, but this only works, if I don´t want to play sounds on the Oasys as well I think. I want to play on the OASYS, for example an synth solo over all 76 keys and also play a pad sound via the masterkeyboard. So one timbre is played on the OASYS keys, the other only via materkeyboard. Do you have an idea, how this works ?

Thanks

If you set your MIDI controller to transmit on MIDI channel 2, then any timbre in a combi assigned to channel 2 will sound when you play the controller, and any timbre assigned to MIDI channel 1 will sound when you play the Oasys' own keyboard. MIDI Channel 1 is the default Global Channel on the Oasys, but you can change that in the Global settings.

p.s. if you turn off Local Control you the control surface is also 'disconnected' from the Oasys. So in this case I'd recommend keeping Local Control on and set your controller to transmit on a different channel from the Oasys Global Channel (e.g. 2 as suggested).

Thank you for helping me so quickly. If you know how it works, it´s not difficult :D
It´s really a great to have a forum like this.
