Sorry chaps but I have to disagree.
Korg has supported the PA1X better than any other keyboard I have ever owned.
If you have a computer which comes with XP, do you expect Microsoft to supply you with Vista?
I feel we need to be appreciative of Korg rather than critical.

No, we dont have to appreciate KORG, what KORG should do now is tell
all the existing customers to return their PA1X and send to all of them
a PA2X and also pay me 100 000$ to build new styles as everyone wishes.

Just to clarify!

The idea of a straight replacewment by Korg appeals. Do you mean that Korg pays you the hundred grand, or that all existing customers each do? If the latter, do you need an assistant?

Get in the queue - I am Nedim's first assistant here...

But seriously, the PA1X(Pro) is finished - over - done - superseded - discontinued.

It is very very unlikely that Korg will invest any more time and effort in the PA1X (in the same way that they do not for the i-series).

Time to love, cherish and nurture your PA1X (as it is) or time to move on to newer technology - both are excellent options.

Take care - don't stress - enjoy what you have....

Support, OS updates, software for the Pa1x

Post by Charley Brown »

Money talks!

I would guess that many, if not most, Pa1x owners would be welling to pay Korg for OS updates, software and Expansion boards for their pa1x if made available at a reasonable fee.

Products offered by Xpro Data proves this to be true.

Korgs marketing stratigy is obviously designed to phase out the Pa1x and usher in the Pa2x. The bottom line is money, not music.

Updates for the Pa1x

Post by Charley Brown »

Pete:

I was wrong ~ I concede!

Thanks for passing along the History on this issue. After reading thru the many responses it would appear that most people adamantly appose the idea of having to pay for OS upgrades on the Pa1x.

Korg obviously realized, human nature being what is, that customers would be apposed to paying big money for an intangible thing called (OS update).

But people could not argue against a newly designed machine (Pa2x) with improved capacity, technology and (OS update).

Some say the Pa2x is nothing more than a glorified Pa1x. But I would guess that the major expense in producing a "State of Art" keyboard would be in research and development of new software and Operating Systems. When you think about it, the hardware is the least expensive part of producing a keyboard. Take a look inside the guts of the Pa1x. To the naked eye there‘s not much in there. But the outside case and keys are what the customer can see and touch.

Intangibles are a harder to sell and harder to justify paying big money. So Korgs strategy, it would seem, is to wrap it up into a new hardware package and call it the Pa2x.

We all need to keep up with the Jones‘s ($3,699.99 please ~ list $4.600.00)
