question about Midi /switching on/off

Post by SoulBe »

Hi,

I have a question concerning midi, maybe somebody has a solution ?

I use a motif es 8 as masterkeybord and the OASYS 76 on top of it.
In a comination I´d like to program, that I can send midi data on channel lets say 16 (not the Global channel) from the Oasys key to the masterkeyboard, but - and that´s where I can´t find a solution - I want to switch the midi sending on and off.
To explain it closely: I start with some sounds in the combination, using the global channel playing on the OASYS Keys - not sending on channel 16- and as the song goes on, I want to add midi message on channel 16 playing the OASYS keys, to send it to a different sound on the masterkeyboard.

What I know and tried:
OASYS timbres are sending no midi messages, if they are switched to "int". So I set one timbre to the "ext" status with midi channel 16. Further I programmed with the Karma/by on /by off switching the timbres to mute the other timbres and let the "ext" timbre work alone, but that does not work. I think the switching on an off of the timbres with KARMA works ony for the timbres with "int" status, not for the "ext" status, so I always send midi messages also on channel 16, eihter KARMA is switched on or of. I also tried to rechannel an timbre set on "int" / Globalchannel via KARMA to channel 16, but there seems no midi out message to be send to the midi out port?!
When I mute the timbre that is set on "ext" channel 16, than it works, that it sends no messages, but this is not a solution in a live situation, because first I have to switch Karma on (to mute the other sounds) and than I have to unmute the "ext" timbre for sending the midi messge - that takes too long.

I hope you understand my problem. Maybe someone has an idea how to solve?

Thanks

First, there is no command that I know of that will turn midi transmission/reception on or off.
If I understand your question correctly, I'd use the Oasys in Sequencer mode. Copy the combi you use into the Sequencer then limit the area of the
Karma-fied part using keyzone. Also, set the appropriate keyzone inside your Motif ES 8 so it triggers only the area in the Oasys that has the Karma-fied part.
Also, connect a footswitch to the Oasys and config the switch to toggle
the Karma function on/off.
Access that setting via Global mode : Controllers/Scales
