Rudess, now using Fantom G instead of OASYS for live use.
Moderators: Sharp, X-Trade, Pepperpotty, karmathanever
Also if you watch the youtube videos and listen to Rudess talk about his choice of the the Oasys, it was because of Karma. He likes the sounds and the fact he can replace soo many boards with 1 board. IMO if you bought Oasys MAINLY for Karma you need to just get a computer and get the FULL Karma experience. Oasys is a keyboardist wet dream for sound and feel

Did anyone attend one of the Korg presentations when Jordan Rudess performed?
Which Korg products did he perform with?

Geez, for a moment I thought the decal on the right said, "bendover.com".
Not quite appropriate for some perplexed OASYS owners, eh....
Actually, this misreading may be a bit of an analogy for the OASYS - things are a lot better than what we may think.
Just thought I would throw a little humour into our ongoing angst with the best damn workstation I've ever owned. And yes, I lusted for the big O just as it was when it first came out. All the rest that the RnD team delivered - STR-1, LAC-1, MOD-7, Brass and Woodwinds, etc. - is icing on the OASYS Cake.
Cheers,
Eric

Sure... I was there.admin wrote:Did anyone attend any of these events ? Any hints as to what we have to look forward to ?jerrythek wrote: Jordan is one very special performance, we have some other exciting events planned which I'm simply going to tease you with at this point. But it's going to be "through the roof" this year and we'll be filming it all so you can enjoy it soon after it happens.
Thanks !
Jordan did a wonderful set, playing strong, discussing and demoing some of his essential sounds he's crafted on the OASYS, and even premiered a new live "3-D Wizard" application that responds in realtime to his playing via MIDI. And closed his set with a new piece he and Jack Hotop wrote just before the holidays, playing along to a videotaped live drummer performance.
The other events that I hinted about earlier:
Organ legend Brian Auger played a smoking set on the Korg BX-3 and M3-88.
Rock/blues legend Edgar Winter played a set on the M3-88, including a sax solo, and he rocked the booth with his soulful blues.
Jazz phenom Eldar played our M3-88 in a funky/fusion jam with Soulive guitarist/leader Eric Krasnow.
Jazz maestro Herbie Hancock was at the booth for autograph signings and to receive our first Korg Lifetime achievement awards.
And prog rock legend Keith Emerson was onhand for a signing, our second Lifetime Achievement award, and a surprise performance with with members of his new band, including Marc Bonilla and Travis Davis.
Each performance was filmed in HD video with two cameras and we're already at work editing them all for posting.
YouTube videos can suffice for a bit, but I'll surely announce when we have our footage posted.
It was a lot of work to arrange, roadie for, and handle, but for me it was a thrill of a lifetime to be able to bring all these amazing artists and my heros and friends to the booth. And soon to share with you all.
I'm still in LA travelling for business, but I'll catch up on all the various thread in a week or so.
Cheers!
Jerry
P.S. That was just =the Korg artists, we have great folks playing for Marshall and Vox as well!

Actually I'll probably resist the temptation, having just a bought a brand new Vox AC30CC2 that died very shortly after being powered upDaz wrote:
I also look forward to seeing the Vox Virage in action perhaps !
Built by Korg in China ...
... a few hours of research/diagnosis later
I just read "...sold Vox to Korg in the early 1990's, who then manufactured a superb reissue of the early '60s AC30 Top Boost, correcting previous inconsistencies from the correct style grille cloth to the GZ34 rectifier tube."
Maybe not, because looking at the trouble shooting document provided by Vox/Korg for the older AC30 (no support information on the current AC30 sadly), it appears my GZ34 rectifier lasted for less than a minute (HT fuse is blown). Have read other stories of this failing rather too frequently in AC30CC. I am not going to wait and see how this pans out as I have done previously, it's going straight back for a refund.
... a few more hours of research/diagnosis later
Looks like I'd need to replace the rectifier with a $35 solid state rectifier to get around this problem in what I guess is an older model. In doing so I would invalidate my warranty I guess, I suspect this piece is probably gonna require attention under warranty. I have used my fair share of valve based amps and know the cons you for the great sound, but generally they last for a little longer

Sounds like you won't be buying much in the future from anyone... most electrical goods are made in China now...kenackr wrote:The first time I see "made in China" on keyboards or keyboard related products from Korg will be the LAST time I buy another Korg Keyboard product.
New TV, Fridge, Microwave... lets hope the ones you have last as the next one you will want to buy will be made in China..!!
Quite right. I wasn't highlighting that it was "Made in China". Some of the factories out there make fantastic stuff; I've played some great Blueridge acoustic guitars for instance. What was I highlighting was "Built by Korg" to legitimize posting here
Oh and lots of Korg stuff is already made in China, the Radias is one example. Mine is just fine. That really isn't my issue here.
