M3 Memory Question

A couple of questions...
I know there are Usb ports on the back of the Module. If I plug a memory stick in, can I export songs that i've created? If so, what is the format?
one more...
can you control the M3 with another keyboard through MIDI?
...if I take MIDI out from my Yamaha to MIDI in on the M3 Module...would that work or is that not what MIDI is genarally used for?
Thanks a bunch!

you can save your songs as .SNG or export as .MID
you can control M3 module with any MIDI keyboard (notes, controllers, prg change, SYSEX...)

that's right, further using sampling option you can also export the song directly in .wav file.
MIDI file can be exported in Format 0 (all midi channel exported in a one-track file) or in format 1 (all midi channel exported as separted tracks)
you can also control the M3M via MIDI over USB directly from you PC if you have not a physical MIDI interface on PC.

so, since I ordered the weighted keys, if I want a more...synth feel...I can use my other keyboard to play around with?

correct. just connect it via midi and you go.
if you detach the module from the keybed the only think you loose are the joystick control (at least if you don't have one on your master keyboardand) and the SW1, SW2 button.

What kind of setup is involved in that? I mean, you can't just connect it and go can you? Is there something in Global you have to do?
Thank you, for your help by the way:)

Hi Jake88
I've got the M3M which is the M3 without the keyboard, I connect mine directly to my Roland HP103mpe Digital Piano and away you go, no other setting up required.
You do have to change the Midi channels manually when sequencing but that's no issue and I'm going to try a Midi in cable to the Roland to see if the midi channel changes automatically when I change tracks.
Cheers
