I saw the Korg nanoKey on Kelly's Cool Tools at
http://www.kk.org/cooltools/archives/003452.php
Right away I went to Sam Ash Music and bought one for $49. When I plugged it in it would not work with Bome's Mouse Keyboard or anything else. I unplugged it -- and my PC crashed with a blue screen! This happened three times!
I searched Korg's website and, with some difficulty, found and installed the Korg USB-MIDI driver.

After telling it to install the nanoKey, no more blue screens. Great. But even though the Korg program recognized the nanoKey, it still wouldn't work with anything else. When I saw on the internet that lots of others were going crazy with with the same problem, and no solutions, I decided to return it.
But then I found the article and the utility below that made it work. The reason it would not work is that XP has a 10 MIDI driver limit, which I had exceeded some time in the past. The cure was to modify the registry and delete old drivers. Not for me. But much better was to use M-Audio's MIDIFIX utility, a one-click fix. The nanoKey is now working perfectly, I love it, and hope this helps others with the same problem!
This article explains the problem:

M-Audio has this run-once utility that fixes it:

I called Korg Product Support at (631) 390-8737, and they were perfectly nice. Tech support understood the problem, mentioned the article above, and offered to walk me through the registry change process. But the MIDIFIX program did the job.
nanoKey not recognized? How to fix it!

Thank you very much for posting this fix -- I was reminded of this midi-driver limit in XP when I purchased a Creative Labs keyboard with the mini-midi keyboard as part of a normal computer keyboard. Nothing I did would get the midi keyboard part recognized even after installing the driver software. It was then that I recalled something about a midi-driver limit in XP (and earlier versions of Windows) and as soon as I delected a driver I no longer needed my new device was recognized.
I hope more people than just those having nanoKey problems reads your post and keeps those links handy -- it's a problem with any device which exceeds the 10-device limit for midi.

I have recently bought Nanopad.
I installed the Korg Usb midi drivers and the Korg Kontrol Editor program.
The thing is when i use the windows built in drivers (usb audio) the Kontrol Editor program does recognize the Nanopad and i it function as normal.
But when i update the usb audio driver to the Korg Usb midi driver the kontrol editor can´t recognize the Nanopad why is that?.
And it does not work anymore.
And if i do what you explain here and delete all the drivers with the m-audiofix and then reinstallall the drivers i need will it aloud me to use more then 10 mididrivers?
I need all my gadgets to work at the same time.
It´s my Edirol midikeyboard, Podxt, Behringer fcb 1010, Behringer bcf 2000,
Novation Nocturne and of course my new Nanopad and my audiointerface Emu 1616m thats 7 i got 12 drivers installed.
I also found a mididriver that i don´t know what it is
the name is wdmaud.drv what the hack is that? it uses 3 drivers nr 3,4 and 7
I google the name and found something about a windows driver and something about Ac97 wich is my built-in audiointerface.
But what google only find was websites for those registryfix utilitys like regclean etc.
Can i safely delete the 3 wdmaud drivers.?
Another thing i notice is that my podxt is using 3 mididrivers nr 2,6 and 11,
And only two of them notice that the thing is connected why is that?
And more importent does it need 3 drivers i search the FAQ on line6 web nada there and i tried to send a question to the staff with no luck.
Can someone help me plz.
I use Winxp sp3
