A Minor Excursion – the story of the Big Bang; demo at last!

Thought I'd share this momentous occasion (for me anyway), seeing as how after 8 years or so of dabbling with it on and off, I've finally (yesterday) got my concept album 'A Minor Excursion' to a state where I can play it to interested parties :D Just need to find some interested parties....

The story is based on the Big Bang, wrapped up in a bit of fantasy, charting the adventures of an intriguing group of characters who are forced to flee their home by a mysterious omen, and undertake an epic excursion into the unknown before finally confronting the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything.
It was inspired by cosmology books such as Stephen Hawking's 'A Brief History of Time', although I managed to get an extra musical pun out of my title
It also explains why the universe started and how it ends (with a bit of artistic license).

I'm only an amateur musician, so the music may be too simplistic, but thought you'd better hear it now as it may take another 8 years to find some proficient musicians and vocalists who can do it more justice. I hope you can see through this and appreciate the imagery in the lyrics and the overall concept.

It existed for many years as instrumental guide tracks and printed lyrics, as I was waiting to find someone who could sing/perform them to make some demos. But the years dragged on and I finally got off my rear and recorded them myself, so apologies for the cringe-worthy vocals  (I certainly do not profess to be a singer), but at least it forced me to finalise the lyrics & structure, and I now have something to play to potential musicians as opposed to getting them to read the lyrics and use their imagination.

Can now think about making up an audio CD so I can add the joins/fillers between the tracks as I want them to blend together.

The music, lyrics & sleeve notes are in the 'Work In Progress' section of my web site www.philizound.co.uk

Thanks for listening; going for a well-earned rest now!
Phil.
