KM-202 issues...

Post by ReclusEndangrmnt »

Hi, first post. :D

Anyways, I bought a KM-202 last May or so, and I've been very happy with it...But now some issues are seeming to crop up that are somewhat fatal to my satisfaction with this mixer :|

Firstly, I now get 'fader bleed;' I'm playing a track on Channel 1, and, when the fader is at 0, and Channel 2's fader is up, I hear Channel 1's track (XFader is at center, I don't use it)...It's not really loud enough to register on the LED meter, but still bad nonetheless.

Secondly, I'm getting a large amount of hiss, with the cue volume at around 9 o'clock. This really came out of nowhere, and there isn't anything that could have caused this, as I baby the mixer, and it's left home only once.

Note that these issues are occurring through the headphone cue; I have not tested the booth or master outputs to see if it's going there as well.

Any ideas? I am still in warranty, and would like to keep this mixer.

actually if you look at the description in the index, it does say "for all kaoss pads and kaoss mixer series". or something along those lines.

anyway, I don't think anyone will be able to help you with that kind of problem.
I've had problems with mixers before though so the first thing i can say is check the main outs, make sure its not your headphone preamp, but also you can expect side effects such as hiss and crosstalk IF you are using high gain levels particularly for any channel preamps.
either way, the only way to get this repaired IF it is a fault is by a qualified service technician/engineer so you should take it back if it is an issue. get them to have a look or send it off sor service or possibly exchange if you can.

Nah, trims are set to roughly 9-10 o'clock, I don't let the meter get into the red. I'll check and see if the master and booth are hissing as well.

EDIT: Both the master and the booth are hissing quite noticeably. Using the trims on the channels yields no change, be they turned up all the way, or vice versa.

Another note: the hiss can be killed via channel faders...And I disconnected my CDJs to make sure that they were not the issue, though I wouldn't imagine so since they don't have a ground.
