saving on the tr.
hey guys. i have the tr88. a great piece. i am writing a composition for a friend for an album. i would like to record it on my board since i am doing most of my work there and i do not have a studio. i do not want to use a drum pattern i plan on working one of those out myself. how do i save my progress. i have 3 tracks done. one with strings and a couple sound fx on the others. there will be more. how can i save my progress and keep my trakcs. i can save it as a template but i lose my music. please help.
Work in the sequencer is not saved in internal memory, you have to save your song to SD card (on the TR) or SmartMedia card for the LE.
you then go to media mode, go to the save tab, then hit utility > Save SEQ
edit:
sorry primate, got it at the same time!

scroll to the file (in the load tab), hit load (not open), then just press okay or whatever it is. the basic options are just if you want to erase the contents already in the sequencer, or save the file into the next song slots afterwards. good if you're building up a set from several sng files.
anyway if you're just working with that one then go with the clear option.

Yeah, its been covered before but the gist of it is:
you need to record the audio outputs of the keyboard into some software. preferably in stereo, through the line-in of your sound card - !!not mic connection!! - or preferably with a higher quality audio interface such as many USB or Firewire devices you can find around today)
software comes in all shapes and sizes, but if you don't want to do any layering (e.g. recording any new sounds afterwards, record yourself playing other things on top, singing, guitar, etc... there are some VERY basic recording packages around that would do this.
if you want to go further then you will be moving into the mainstream where you traditionally get MIDI sequencing as well as multi-track audio recording in software. we're talking software such as Logic, Cubase, Pro-tools, Live.
