KP3 Djing Sample BPM Question
Hey guys I`m sorry if this question has been asked before but I just need some clarification. I`m going to be using the KP3 strictly for djing and I want to transfer some vocal samples, or effects loops from my computer and incorporate them in my set. I`m hearing problems of BPM and syncing issues. For example lets say I have a Daft Punk loop and I want to mash it over a 128 BPM tune playing on a CDJ, will I have trouble doing this, will the vocal be in time with the track if i previously set it to 128 BPM in a program like ableton, can I easily adjust the BPM of the vocal if the BPM of the tune playing on the CDJ is lets say 130 BPM, and lastly how long can i play this loop for, and how many bar lengths can the vocal and loop be, thanks!
* when synchronizing a kp3 with a CDJ, you just do what you do when you need to synchronize one CDJ with another: use the jogwheel and the pitch
you can't trust the CDJ's BPM reading and the kp3's loops are constantly drifting little by little from the internal clock so you can only trust your ears. you can play the loop forever as long as you keep adjusting the jogwheel as your ears tell you...
* the kp3 can play loops as long as 16 beats.

Ok thanks alot man, just to clarify how often would I have to adjust the CDJ basically how drastic is the drift on the loop playing on the KP3 assuming when I first dropped the loop I had both the loop and tune synced perfectly?
What is all this buzz around BPM syncing with the KP3, does it apply mostly to sampling audio from an external source instead of directly importing samples from your computer?

how often... well if you had "both the loop and tune synced perfectly" then obviously you wont need to adjust the CDJ at all
seriously, i cant quantify that... it depends on how close you got the BPM on the kp3 with the BPM on the CDJ. the closest you get them the less you'll need to make jog adjustments.
about the BPM syncing... i havent done any external BPM syncing through MIDI, but there is a problem with the way loops are syncronized with the internal clock (they drift in time, relative to the clock) so i suspect that even if the clock will come from an external source through MIDI, the loops will drift just like they drift from the internal clock... that's just a theory though.
also, i dont really use samples created on the computer. as far as sampling on the kp3, you can not use at the same time 2 samples that were sampled at different BPM's (even a difference as little as 0.1), they will drift in time from eachother. in reality they both drift relative to the internal clock but it seemes that the drifting speed is affected by the sample's BPM. that's why two loops at different BPM's wont stay in sync for very long, cause they dont drift at the same speed. the reason why they drift at all relative to the clock remains a mistery to us all...

I use exclusively my loops and I store it into the kaoss.
I change the tempo of my loops very often to try new things, then I make new loops on the fly and go on playing, I've never encountered syncs problems on any set of loops, whantever the current tempo is regarding to the "natural" one, even with RSF loops
Un-misteriously and more seriously speaking, two basic solutions :
1. adjust the tempo ofCDJ and Kaoss manually
2. send the sound to the in of the Kaoss and combine manual setting with auto bpm
