Kaoss pad 3 and ableton

i was wondering how i would go about connecting my kaoss pad up to work with ableton? sorry if this sounds like a really stupid question, just not sure if i can do it just using a standard usb cable or what. What im trying to do is get play effects from ableton through my kaoss pad which is mic up to a trumpet...

Hey. I just did this yesterday.
make sure you have the latest Kp3 USB midi driver
connect the USB cable
power up Ableton
power up the KP3
go to preferences in Ableton - hopefully the KP3 is detected (if you've got the right driver this should happen).
then click on and remote radio button in the KP3 midi out field.

On last thing
the directions I gave you were for midi only ( Kp3 midi to Ableton).
Depending on your signal path this will change how you want to set things up.
