Small moan......

Post by lewisjalexander »

Hey all

well here I am about to start some major productions with the OASYS 88. just upgraded the ram to 2 gig and happy as a pig in muck as we say in certain parts of the UK.

the small moan is this..... the 3 additional plugins (exs3, LAC 1 and MOD 7) are demos. now this is what I don't understand. KORG installed these onto the OASYS and didn't tell me these were demo mode only. here's the gripe £450 for the 3 plugins to be activated. can't do it through korg UK. only through the user site. I don't use a credit card etc nor paypal just cash or cheque.

where does it leave someone like me? stranded....

the oasys 88 and my other studio equipment were brought for me by a kind and generous person who wanted me to succeed in my career as a professional musician. after spending 3 years developing code and accessibility tools for the OASYS 88 and my digital studio equipment, working with apple as freelance to develop the accessibility architectures for voiceover on the mac with logic studio etc. I need to get this launched.

KORG UK aren't able to help me with the activation codes.

Is there anyone at KORG USA who could maybe get in touch with me to help me somehow.

sorry to post this

other than that my oasys is like my dream woman lol

Hello.

I assume by that you didn't register your OASYS either ?. If you had you would know that www.korguser.net is the place to go to buy all the expansions for the OASYS.
KORG installed these onto the OASYS and didn't tell me these were demo mode only.
They are part of the latest OS. If they simply installed the latest OS into your OASYS then expansion came with it as demo versions. There is no way to install the OS without them.

Kind Regards
Sharp.

I have registered the workstation and am aware of this. just seems ridiculous that the workstation is £6500 from KORG UK, last in stock and now I have to somehow raise money to buy these codes. just codes. no discs, no dongles etc just 3 series of numbers.

As I say.no credit / debit card, no paypal etc so I have no other way of getting these codes to enable the plugins etc. it's a bit defeatist having a workstation when you can't use the extended plugins.

Korg UK should be able to help you to purchase the plug-ins. I'll confirm this with them.

Hi lew.

I understand your situation and KORG should be able to help as Dan said, but .....
now I have to somehow raise money to buy these codes. just codes. no discs, no dongles etc just 3 series of numbers.
I think your looking at this upside down here. They are not just codes. If they where the expansions would be free because a serial number costs nothing. What your paying for is new expansion synth engines and a sample library. You will love them too, they are fantastic.
As I say.no credit / debit card, no paypal etc so I have no other way of getting these codes to enable the plugins etc. it's a bit defeatist having a workstation when you can't use the extended plugins.
Hopefully KORG UK can get you up and running quickly.

Enjoy the OASYS. It's an almighty workstation.

Kind Regards.
Sharp.

Hi sharp

korg UK are not responsible for the activation codes. they told me this over the phone today. it is the responsibility of either korg USA or korg JP for this and korg UK cannot assist. the rep was very firm in korg UK's position on this

Hi lew .
Well if Dan is sending them an email, you never know.

Just thinking here out loud here though. Could you not ask a family member or someone to buy the codes with their card, and just pay them the cash ?.

I'm only suggesting it because if your in a hurry for the activation codes, it's by far the quickest way to go.

Kind Regards.

This sounds like a misunderstanding on someone's part. Korg USA is basically at the same organizational level as Korg UK; each is a distributor to, and provides support for, a specific geographic area. I'm in contact with Korg UK about this now.

Hi All

Lew as you well know this is not what you were asking me over the phone. You were asking me to give you the upgrades for free ...

I explained to you that if we did this for one we would have to do it for all and that we in the UK have no control over issuing the authourisations.. it's automated at www.korguser.net where you register the Oasys.

You also said that you didn't like to pay for things online as your afraid of security risks so I guess you have some access to online payment sources. As I pointed out on the phone the secure payment method is as good as any that holds this type of information and everyone who has paid for Oasys or Legacy updates over the last few years can testify that they have never had a security risk via Korgs web site.

Best
