HELP NEEDED -Saving Audio Tracks To External Hard Drive

Hi All...

I just got a new Western Digital Mirror Hard Drive and formatted it ...and started to back-up my files from the internal HD...

So, I'm wondering ...How can I save a song file w/the audio tracks to the Western Digital?

I'm a relative newbie to Oasys, though not to Korg ...In my Trinity, you had to have an Iomega Jaz Drive and copy the songs with sound ...But, you couldn't do that with a regular hard drive ...I guess I assumed that after all these years you could just back-up any and all info to an external ...Hopefully, I'm just missing a step...

Can anyone advise how I can solve my dilemma? ...Thanks, All.

Steve :(

Hey Steve,
One thing you must do is save the secondary file. I don't remember what the file type is but its usually right underneath the SNG File and it has the same name. When coping it, go Mutli Select and grab both of em at once. This file here is what has all the Audio Files in it. So you'll notice songs that are just instrumental don't have one.

Good luck mate! :)

As ultimateDJ wrote the Oasys stores audio-data in a separate folder being named like the .sng-file. In this folder you have again folders for each track which hold the various takes. If you want to back up a Song you'll have to copy the .sng file PLUS the corresponding audio-folder. Just press multiple select in the file window, select both and then "copy" from the menu. You will be asked where you wish to paste to. Select the external HDD and the destination folder and you are done.

HELP NEEDED -Saved Audio Tracks To Ext HD Won't Play From Ex

Hi Guys...

Sorry it's taken so long to send my thanks ...I've been going through hard drive hell ...Had some formatting issues ...But, I won't go into that right now, as I believe I solved my problem...

I do have a challenge though ...I followed your instructions, i.e., clicked on multiple and copied, both, the song file and secondary file to my external ...They seem to copy fine ...However, when I try to load the song I get a pop-up message that says:

"WAVE files on this external medium will not be played with sequencer audiotrack playback. Copy SNG and WAVE Directory to Internal HDD, and load SNG from internal HDD."

Now if I have a song file that I want to copy that is only comprised of midi tracks I'm good to go. Those copy fine and load without an issue out of my external ...But, not so with any song file that has audio tracks ...And, that's a drag, as most of my songs have vocals so I'm wondering:

A.) Is there a problem with my media? ...I'm thinking not, as I've tried two externals and received the same message.
B.) Am I missing a step? ...I'm an Oasys newbie so I'm hoping it's that.

Has anyone encountered this issue? ...Thanks, guys ...I really appreciate any visibility that you can provide.

Greetings & Well Wishes,
Steve :(

The Oasys can't play audio files in the sequencer from a external hard drive. You first have to copy the whole song (midi and audi files) to your internal hard drive.
That's how the Oasys handles audio tracks.
Then it should work.
