So i just bought a Korg M50, its a great keyboard very easy to use, but it doesnt really have the sounds i was looking for, So now i kinda have my eye on the M3, What do you think i should do, Stick with this M50 or Upgrade to the M3?

Also does the M3 have More/Better sounds than the M50?

The 'sounds' in the M50 and the M3 are almost exactly the same, although the M3 does have sampling built-in.

So if you've not got the sounds you're looking for with your M50, switching to the M3 won't really make a lot of difference.

Can you be more specific as to what 'type' of sounds you are looking for?

I felt the same about my M50 when I got it first. But that was because I was used to the sound of my previous keyboard. After some playing, I started to like them. Now I love them .

What sounds were you looking for? You can always tweak the ones already there or create your own ;]

What are you listening thru? I've found that my amp really doesn't do justice to the output of the M50 .. a good set of studio monitors, or really good headphones, is essential to get the most out of it ..

But if you just don't like the M50 I doubt that you'll find the M3 an improvement since the basic sounds are the same. The M50 offers a lot of opportunity for sound tweaking, so don't give up on it too soon ..

I guess you didn't get a chance to audition the M50 at a music store? You have a few choices as listed above: give it more time, tweak the sounds to your taste, try a better sound system, or return it.

The main difference between the M50 and the M3 is KARMA. I've owned an M3 for over a year now and use the KARMA feature in most of my music. So another question for you may be: are you actually looking for different sounds, or more useful and exciting rhythms and textures?

How come you bought M50 and now you dont like sounds ,did you do what every musician does play it before you buy
And yes what you did not like about sounds would you tell us

Man, I just got mine yesterday and I absolutely LOVE IT!!To each his own though! For me, this things got superb sounds, and great performance and sequencing capabilities. It does it all! As a matter of fact, it just made me breakfast..(bacon and egg's)..lol..Anyway, Gotta go...my m50's waiting! Good luck man!

Like the others said, either change what you're using to monitor playback or start manipulating the default sounds to your liking, or both

We don't know exactly what you expected as far as sounds but if you've only had it for a couple days, give it another week or two and I and the rest of us can almost guarantee you'll change your mind about it.

Nom im still here lol, yea alright i think ima stick with it then, because i just got into Music Production and im still a noobie at this. What i was really looking for was maybe better Choirs and maybe some Better drums, but once i found out how 2 tweak them and add some Reverbs and stuff im starting to like it. And when i talked to my friend about it, he said that i shouldt buy keyboards for drums and stuff,there mainly ment for the other sounds which i see now is true..

But anyways thank you all for giving me your opinions, i guess ima just keep it,now that i had more time to mess with it more, its starting to fall in place. Thanks

Also, can you upload more sounds into it?
of course by Sd card but how do you do it,just insert the sound into the SD card and load it up on the Menu?

And can you upload .Mp3 Sounds or .Wav?

Nope, to upload your own sounds you need a sampler, the m50 doesn't have a sampler (the m3 does)

It's true that there's no sampler on the M50 but you can install new sounds on it .. These would normally be in the form of a .PCG file. I installed a bank of 32 piano sounds not too long ago, and recently downloaded a zip file (stes'co.zip) containing some programs created by a guy on the Karma labs site. You can also load M3 sounds onto the M50 since the sound engines are the same .. these are also available in .pcg format.

Once you've found a .pcg file you want to try, stick it on an SD card and use the media services on the m50 to open it and find the sound(s) you like ..

There is no support on the M50 for importing .wav files or .mp3 files though ..

i see, okay thank you guys very much, as of now ima stick with it, and as long as i can upload those .PCG files then its all good, i just gotta find a site were they have those sounds for downloads. Thanks
