new Korg M-10 retaining Oasys antics?

Post by tonybanks »

Rumors, voices, bla bla bla's..............
I've read during the week end that M10 is a forthcoming (2010) WS which is going to replace M3, or fall in between M3 and Oasys.
Frankly speaking I do not know if it's a joke or not.

I've read during the week that KORG are getting ready to send manned flights into space in search of alien technology that will benefit musicians everywhere.

Can't provide any links or prof just like you that I'm not making this all up though

Regards.

I mentioned this before but perhaps worth mentioning again:

Perhaps after re-exploiting the M series they'll move on to exploit the O1 series, in which case they will end up with:

OW2DVDProY

which is a bit of a mouthful so they might reduce it to:

OASYS 2

...so shhh...leave them be - they don't know it yet but they're heading in the right direction...

I have a feeling a read something on this before on the forum here and so I did a little searching.

Just a single referance to it, but who knows. Maybe it's real, maybe it's not.

Translated from the Italian website:

Assisting to the tour Demo of the synth korg I had way to have a small news! With M10 (this the name of the successor of m3) korg will make revive part of the project oasys, wave done not compress and hardware synthesis of engines (type exb-radias) seq. Sound-midi. unfortunately the info I am still little, we say that to the winter namm m10 should see the light.

8)

Well, When was a rumor on a korg KEYBOARD product EVER converted into an actual product?, As Korg don't do rumours do they?, and convert them?

I remember lots of hype on the Triton Studio when that came out, an before (I think), on another forum (now closed).

Well, not long till namm I guess (what date is it on?)

How long did it take between the first announcement of OASYS until it finally turned into a real workstation? 15 years? And wasn't Korg working with Brian Eno on some secret synth a couple years back?

Another rehash of the M3 (M3 Studio, M3 LE, M3 TR, M3 Extreme, etc) would be a bad financial move IMHO. Continuing to release OS updates with more features for the M3 to keep sales GOING would be better as it would cost much less R&D on their workstation line (which is still at the top of the heap). Take that time saved and come out with something completely new. Something way out in left field.

How about a new synth that plays VST's? Everything's basically a softsynth playing on dedicated hardware anymore anyway. If they did this, they'd be first to market. If they did it right (and cost effectively), they'd stay at the top with it as well. The Solaris is going to be out soon and that's going to get a LOT of attention.

How about a real, honest to goodness analog synth? Analog everything. The Alesis Andromeda proved there is a desire for a good analog. The Prophet 08 sounded promising but is no match for the Andromeda. The Andromeda commands a new price on the used market and they get snatched up immediately.

All I ask, whatever they put out, PLEASE use a joystick. I hate mod wheels.

they actually did bring out a real OASYS workstation in 1995. It looked like a suped up dark blue Trinity...

http://www.vanille-media.de/site/index. ... org-oasys/

it just didn't make it to production. coolest looking workstation Korg never made... (i really want to know what that slider does next to the joystick)

BTW yeah, 01/W actually came about from the suggested M/10, it was supposed to be the successor to the M1... the actual story is referenced here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korg_O1/W Look under "Trivia"

I would imagine they would save the next M-series name for the next generation of workstations (in say, 10 years or so)
