Oasys and M3 together

Post by Rocness »

Hi

Are there any benefits to owning M3 and Oasys?
Can the M3 add 4 more modules to Oasys some how with karma?
Can you add 8 more chord pad triggers to Oasys buy using M3?
Are there any technical benefits and if so how would you connect it?

Thanks

1) Yes. It's very good for your self-esteem.
2) Yes. Send Karma MIDI out.
3) Yes. It's a matter of MIDI routing.
4) I don't know about "technical benefits"; the weakest link in any chain determines overall strength. Same applies here; Oasys is weaker in some areas, M3 is weaker in others. Connect them with standard MIDI cables. I do it every day. As for the various Global settings required, you'll need to read the manuals to determine which settings suit your individual needs. It's not rocket science, but it's not as simple as watching television.

I'd prefer combining with a different brand. The benefit of combining 2 Korg instruments would be similarity of the interface - but unfortunately many other things will be similar, too (esp. sounds due to similar sample basis and synth engines and fx-engines). I have to admit this is largely an assumption. I just played the M3 twice and didn't make an in-depth comparison. But that's how it felt to me: similar - just not as brilliant and "big" as the Oasys.
