Goodbye alesis micron, hello microkorg xl!

Post by j--d »

Hi, ive done what ive been wanting to do for ages, i sold the micron and got a microkorg xl! The only reason i didnt get the original MK in the 1st place was keysize but after playing the xl with its slightly bigger keys and i think sound wise its miles ahead of the micron i had to get one.

a quick question, wheres the best place to download patches for the xL and do the original Microkorg patches work on the xl??

Congrats on getting your MicroKorg XL. I'm sure you'll like it. You can download the MicroKorg XL editor software from the Korg website.

With the editor software, you have a visual representation (knobs) of all of the parameters on the synth like oscillator type etc that you can edit and save. It also comes with the patch library from the original MicroKorg and some other of Korg's synths.

Here is the link:

Let me know if you run into anything

Shannon has done an excellent job with this, a patch sharing repository for the XL

No, the original Microkorg patches do not work on the MKXL. The MK patches that you'll find for the MKXL have been translated manually, because the synth architectures are different. The MKXL is a cut down version of the R3, which is a cut down version of the Radias.
