Can anyone tell me how to sync the drum patterns from KP3 to an external synth or Ableton, or anything...? Thanks so much!

haven't done it yet, but I think you just set the KP3's MIDI setting to EXT, or external, set the host device (Ableton, etc.) to transmit the MIDI clock to the appropriate channel, and it should lock the BPM's.
If you mean lock the Drum pattern so that it is actually in time, and not that it is just the same tempo, I have yet to figure it out, and seems to be a flaw in this things design, and possible a reason for me to sell it. I'm working on another problem right now, but I'm moving to that next...
Does that help any?

I played with it last night, and you pretty much have to play with it to get the host and the KP3 to line up. If you lock "Hold" on, pick the pattern you want and just try to tap the square in time with the host, I used the metronome in Ableton. It seemed to work okay. The stupid part of the KP3 is that it will lock the BPM, but not the loop start point, so you have to manually set that. Once you get it set, it stays put though.
A neat thing I found, if you set the KP3 to transmit, and send the clock to Ableton, Ableton will continuously recalculate the BPM live in the upper left corner, so you can watch how the signal varies.
Honestly I'll probably sell my KP3 because of this whole clock sync issue. I want a smarter sampler.

You need to control the touch pad with ableton.
Page 21 of the KP3 manual sets out what CC data you have to send for each function. That way ableton can trigger the beat to start at the right time.
I don't use ableton, but this works with my sequencer.
