Missing older forum posts - really needed

Daz and Sharp - any sign of you putting older posts back up on the forum? I'm personally waiting for them as there were important technical posts by your good selves, Dan, Stephen and Mike and others that I really need for some pieces to be completed.

And, as new member ix studio is revealing - its also likely that old debates will begin all over again, and where all of those debates could be available for new members to read through.

But overall, there are some pretty important older posts that I really need and would be grateful for you to put them back up. I realise it may be difficult and a lot of work, but ask you to keep in mind that several of us have asked before and have been waiting patiently for about a year or so.

Thanks!

Kevin.

Daz or Sharp -

Any thoughts on this issue?

Even to make previous posts available as a zip file to those needing it would do - again I remind you that there are specific posts that I for one am badly in need of at this stage

Thanks,
Kevin.

Hi Kevin.
I'm not ignoring you, it's just that the answer is complicated. I've just paid for another year of hosting out of my own pocket last week when I thought that we would have been long gone from the server we are on right now.

Since we had the problems of our CPU usage we have moved to a new Server at "The Planet" server farm, and I think we could get away with restoring everything as we are not so directly visible to our host any more. They are just resellers now for The Planet server farm from what I can gather.

Regards
James.

You may have done it in the past, but I'm not sure - how about a fundraiser or "sponsor member" thread? You should post it once every two years or so.

Have you tried http://www.archive.org/index.php ?
If you know when the posts were you can be lucky...

I agree with the idea of opening a fundraising thread, you can count me in for a donation.

It's no small undertaking, as I know from actually removing the content, which was much simpler task. Although the "vibe" then probably made that night feel a LOT longer.

Spare time is at premium right now, so this isn't going to be easy to fit in.

+1 to contribute a donation if you set it up.

Re. restoring the old posts Daz - can you make the old OASYS forum posts available as a zip file and in some form that is readable in a txt editor do that that anyone who wants it can requests it?

Kevin.

Hm

I tried my suggestion but...

we're sorry, access to http://www.korgforums.com has been blocked by the site owner via robots.txt. So my idea is not helpfull at all.

Kevin's text file idea ...

It's possible I could transform the data from MySQL into a text format, but it would take some time to bring all this up on a machine running MySQL and do that work. I don't know how feasible that really is ... the text file would be enormous, there is a massive amount of data there.

It was a good idea !

Sadly, we had to filter bots/spiders quite aggressively because our host was complaining about the CPU time that was sucking up. That happened at the same time we truncated the database and was the only way we could get back on line.

I've created an online archive of all the Oasys forum posts from Jan 2005 - Aug 2008 (all the posts that were stripped from this forum) :
