Apart from the extra, polyphony, sampling RAM and additional sound banks for storage, is there really that much difference from the PA1x Pro Elite to the PA2x models.

Apart from the CD, FDD and the weight of course.

I often wondered if I should upgrade or not.

If you can afford to change, do it!! - PA2XPro is an excellent upgrade to PA1XPro.
I was sceptical at first, thinking that it was a mild upgrade but I was wrong. As much as I loved the PA1Xpro, I could not go back now.

New sound engine (same as M3)
EQ
Guitar mode
Extra sample RAM
DNC
Dual MP3
Motorized touch screen angle
ACC/UPPER balance slider (excellent)
line-in recording (MP3)
Improved effects
Extra style capacity ("favorites banks") - up to 960 on board styles
New styles
New sounds
Enhanced styles
Extra slider (drawbar/assignment)
2 USB host portsts (for USB thumb drive/external disk)
No more diskette OS updating (all by USB or disk)
Internal date/time clock
A little bit lighter (weight)
...and more etc...etc...

....altogether a great upgrade by Korg....

(but the PA1XPro is still a great keyboard)

In "GLOBAL >General Controls>Date & Time"

No, this feature is not on the PA800.
