Hi:
I have been setting up my OASYS to provide midi input to a couple of rack synths. Pretty straight forward with midi cable out from the OASYS going to midi in on the rack synths. To switch the OASYS into midi mode, I used the Global - Midi - Midi tab and unchecked "Local Control On". Left the midi channel at 01 and was in good shape. Then, something happened, and it seemed the OASYS software hic-cupped or maybe it was me. When I rechecked the "Local Control On" flag which should cause the OASYS to return to playing its own sounds, I got the same midi signal. I checked and unchecked the Local Control On, turned the OASYS off and on again a few times, to no avail. I seem to be stuck in midi-land. Does anyone have any ideas? I thought there was a way of resetting everything to default, but not sure where it is.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I'm confused as to why you would turn 'Local Control' on or off at all
IF you want to use the Oasys to only trigger sounds from your rack synths
it's much easier to use Song/Sequencer mode …
On track 1 insert a patch ( or use the default patch) on the Oasys and turn the volume to '0' or mute the patch > under the track parameter tab , toggle the Status for each track to
EXT only and set the midi channel for rack synth A. If you want to split the Oasys keyboard to facilitate triggering more than rack synth simultaneously
then go to Midi filter/zones and set the keyboard zones to accommodate.
e.g.
Oasys track 1/midi chnl 1/Status : EXT/Zone : C-1 > B3 for rack synth A
Oasys track 2/midi chnl 2/Status : EXT/Zone : C4 > G9 for rack synth B
Also, be sure and adjust the octave placement of each Oasys track to accommodate the precise octave you want to play on your rack synth.
Name and save the song & Save the patches' name of your external synths
under 'Track Edit' > Midi track names
You can also add tracks with zones to match your rack synth in multi mode
if they have that capability.

as far as I know, local control is not an 'on-off' switch for midi. Oasys, or any other keyboard for that matter, will always send midi out no matter what the local control is unless there is a separate facility to switch off midi. I have not come across such a thing with a few other keyboards that I've used so far and oasys is no exception. correct me if I am wrong.
yes, the point of Local Off is in the name. It does not turn on or off MIDI output, rather it turns on or off whether the OASYS (or any other synth with this option) responds to its own MIDI messages whilst it is generating them, or whether it ignores them and only listens to MIDI input.dranandj wrote:as far as I know, local control is not an 'on-off' switch for midi. IMO, its easier just to turn the master volume to zero. obviously if you are in program or combi mode then any ARP or KARMA stuff will still be transmitted, but you can actually still just play the keyboard from global mode (on most korg synths) or use sequencer mode as mentioned above.
