When korg will introduce DNS techonology on the WS?

Post by afr »

I would like to see the DNS tech on the workstation, at the moment is available only on SV1 and PA arranger, but I think that the possibility to use more than 2OSC ( for example on sv1 there are program using up to 19 OSC) each of them with a own synthesy chain, is the real mode to compete with the possibility offered by kurzweil VAST

any korg man can spend few words about?

Can we think to a V3 of op.sys for m3 introducing this kind of features?

regards

aldo :)

not disagreeing with your post at all, it would be cool to see some more complex sounds... but technically, you CAN use up to 4 osc at a time on a single program. You have to use crossfading. an example of this would be Program Int-C 56:

Osc 1
Cello & Violin Ens - crossfade set at 127
Analog Strings 1

Osc 2
Strings Quartet-Vibrato2 - crossfade set to 127
Analog Strings 2

Both oscillators are using crossfading ALL the time, so technically you are using 4 multisounds with one program.

Downside is... you don't get those 4-layer EDS sounds if you build programs like this. I haven't tried it, but I'd imagine you could still build another layer or two into this.

Yes Gargamel you are right but in reality it still not 4 oscilators since you have
no control over the 2 bottom oscilarot, cant do nothing to them.
What he is saying is the DNC technology from PA series which eats M3 for breakfast.
It is pretty complex and complicated...especially brought to M3...uuuhhhhh...
Dont forget, on the PA there is 16 individual/independent oscilators that you can
play with and yes, who needs 16 osc...but i've used them all in one sound and
sometimes even ran out of oscilators...

I rarelly comment on wet-dreams setups, but Rob, you trully have a setup which I admire. 88 keys RH3, M3 modul, PA2X... Also, the way you arranged it is very ergonomic and completely usable.
Congratulations.

Thanks for your kind words Shrike! Lee helped a lot with the set up while he was here on vacation. Did you notice the background? The blue dust cover is covering up my Bluthner baby grand piano - I think I found a buyer yesterday. Once the Bluthner has gone I'll be able to tidy up the Pa2x/ M3-88/laptop computer setup some more. I hope to fix up a big flat panel display in front of the keyboards so I can see more real-estate in Cakewalk Sonar and KM3. I am starting to use that software a lot more in my journey from accompanist and gadget freak towards being a musician and composer. Also in case you are interested James (Irish Acts) and I just released the Grandfather of all sampled Grand piano sounds for the Pa2x. It's so good especially when used via the M3-88 keybed that it led to my decision to sell the Bluthner. See:

OK, we are seriously off topic here, but I don't own PA2X, so although I appreciate the piano you and Sharp made because it's trully an exquisite library (I listened to the demos) worth every cent of it's price, I don't have use of it - I'm still on Extreme.

That's one sweet setup there Rob. I love how close and tight everything sits.

Thank you. The M3-88 keybed is supported on two rails so it's very steady. It' a weighted keyboard, very heavy so should not be carried on a single support rail. The front of the Pa2x sits directly on top of the M3-88 keybed (I used a self-adhesive rubber draft excluder strip to make sure it won't slip), and the back of the Pa2x is supported by another rail at the rear. The M3M is supported by a "laptop stand" which is an optional extra for the Jaspers A-frame stand. In Europe the stand and accessories can be purchased from http://www.thomann.de

I know the original question was about extending the M3 functionality to include the Pa2x DNC (Dynamic Nuance Control) capabilities. I had the same objective, and this is my interim solution until Korg release the next OS for the M3 with DNC in it, please

Regards,
Rob
