Ok, so this is a bit late to be asking about the arp function, i've had the m3 for almost a year.

BUT

I've really been admiring the arpeggiator on smaller synths like the MicroKorg, and Radias...Micron...even the M50. they appear to be pretty simple, as theres a single "on/off" button for it....

I know the M3 has an arpeggiator, it's just a lot more complicated. Can someone PLEASE walk me through how i'd get a simple arp pattern on say...a vintage lead program?

THank you sooo much.

(the reason i'm suddenly interested in arps is Owl City. Pretty much everything in this guys music is most likely done with an arpeggiator (at least the background stuff)

Thanks again. :)

The M3 doesn't exactly have an Arpeggiator. It has KARMA.

I suggest you read this:

and these:

:) Sorry I can't be more help right now.

I recommend to read
http://karma-lab.wikidot.com/karma2:tut ... arma-usage,
then get familar with the different RTC models
http://karma-lab.wikidot.com/karma2:und ... rol-models,
and learn about the GE categories
http://karma-lab.wikidot.com/karma2:und ... categories

Once you understand the basics, choose a GE that comes close to the arpeggio you have in mind. You can then tweak the GE to get closer to what you want to achieve. There are several approaches (and maybe many more). You probably need to apply a mix of those:
(1) Change the rhythm or rhythm complexity => in the Comp/Lead RTC model, this is accomplished by moving slider 2
(2) Change the duration of notes => slider 3
(3) Change repetitions => slider 7 in combination with switch 7
(4) Invert the phrase => switch 2
(5) Remove or change notes using the note map
http://karma-lab.wikidot.com/karma2:cha ... d-by-karma

It's more an experimental way of achieving things, but the more you know the better you can control that beast. And as far as inspiration is concerned, it's just about the limit
:D

thanks so much. I played around with it today...found some patterns I like.
